While hosting a watch party for the Peacemaker Season 2 finale on Threads, James Gunn, co-CEO of DC Studios, clarified the status of the Blue Beetle character. Blue Beetle was not featured in the Season 2 finale of Peacemaker.
James Gunn recently clarified that Blue Beetle won’t be in the finale after some fans thought his previous comments suggested otherwise. Xolo Maridueña starred as Jaime Reyes in the 2023 film *Blue Beetle*, which is now officially part of the new DC Universe’s storyline.
James Gunn addressed the varying opinions on the Peacemaker Season 2 finale, acknowledging that some viewers found its emphasis on character development and fewer action scenes disappointing. He shared that while he personally loved the episode, he respects that not everyone felt the same way.
Responding to criticism that the finale wasn’t surprising, Gunn pointed out that it actually included several major reveals. He specifically mentioned Checkmate and Salvation, organizations that are expected to be important in future DC Universe stories.
James Gunn debunked the idea that Langston Fleury from A.R.G.U.S. is actually Martian Manhunter. He also clarified that Rick Flag Sr.’s motivations aren’t rooted in hate, but in fear – specifically, fear of the immense power some metahumans wield and the challenge of controlling dangerous metahuman criminals.
