Back in 2019, before the Moon Knight series debuted on Disney+, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige spoke on The Hollywood Reporter’s Awards Chatter podcast. Shortly after Avengers: Endgame came out in theaters, he told listeners that several characters first appearing in Disney+ shows would eventually become significant players in the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe movies.
The DC Universe’s next project will be Lanterns, an eight-part HBO series set to debut in early 2026. Taking inspiration from True Detective, the show will star Kyle Chandler, age 60, as the experienced space lawman Hal Jordan. However, the central character will be newcomer John Stewart, portrayed by Aaron Pierre.
Turning Squid Game into a video game makes perfect sense – the show is essentially built around a series of challenges, much like minigames. This idea isn’t new, as similar concepts have been used before. The main difference is the high stakes in Squid Game: failing a minigame means certain death.
Showtime has renewed Dexter: Resurrection for a second season, following the success of its first season. The initial season broke viewership records for the network and received strong positive feedback from both critics and viewers. Currently, season one boasts a 95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, raising expectations for the return of the crime drama starring Michael C. Hall and Jack Alcott.
Disney has released similar relaxing videos before. They’ve previously created 10-hour ambient experiences featuring locations like the beach house from Agatha All Along, a rainy meditation with Daredevil, and even the sound of Wolverine breathing. Now, you can also enjoy a long, looping video of the kitchen in the Baxter Building and spend time with The Thing…just waiting.
The drive for revenge keeps the story moving quickly and the characters engaged, something the second season of Arcane didn’t quite achieve at the start. Every scene feels purposeful and advances the plot, avoiding unnecessary explanations or drawn-out sequences. While Arcane is visually stunning and emotionally resonant, Blue Eye Samurai is more focused, streamlined, and effective in developing its characters and story.
DC Comics’ Justice League Unlimited began in November. The newest installment, Justice League Unlimited #12, features writing by Mark Waid, artwork by Dan Mora, colors by Tamra Bonvillain, and lettering by Ariana Maher.
Despite She-Hulk not getting a second season on Disney+ – a fate shared by many Marvel shows on streaming – Marvel Television is continuing with new projects. Next up is Wonder Man, a live-action comedy that satirizes Hollywood. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II will star as Simon Williams, an actor who becomes a superhero.
Although Arrow gained a dedicated following, the launch of spin-offs like The Flash in 2014 and Supergirl in 2015 dramatically increased the popularity of what became known as the Arrowverse. This allowed the universe to grow, bringing lesser-known comic book characters into the spotlight.
Fans were disappointed with Jackson’s recent return to General Hospital, feeling the storylines he was given didn’t do the character justice. While Lucky was brought back to Port Charles as a potential liver donor for his sister, Lulu Spencer (Alexa Havins), the plot involved him being held captive in Africa by Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota).
