As a big drama fan, I’ve noticed a lot of people think that family-focused show gets too much credit – they say it doesn’t have enough of those big, shocking twists we expect from a really gripping drama. But honestly, I think that’s where it succeeds. It feels so real, which is something a lot of shows sacrifice when they’re constantly trying to create unbelievable plotlines. And even nine years later, I still think the very first episode of the show is one of the best pilots I’ve ever seen – it just pulls you in immediately.

Disney is combining its Hulu live TV service with Fubo, a popular streaming service for live television. The combined service will have around 6 million subscribers in North America, putting it in direct competition with YouTube TV. However, Hulu + Live TV and Fubo will still operate as separate apps and services – the deal is primarily a business agreement where Disney will now own 70% of Fubo. Fubo’s CEO, David Gandler, has publicly welcomed the news.

The new Netflix thriller, A House of Dynamite, is generating a lot of discussion after its recent release. The U.S. president faces a critical decision: respond to an attack immediately, even if it means escalating the conflict, or wait and see if a warhead actually explodes – potentially over Chicago. However, director Kathryn Bigelow chooses to end the movie before we see the outcome, a controversial decision that has divided viewers. Both director Bigelow and writer Noah Oppenheim have recently spoken out to explain and defend the film’s polarizing conclusion.

While speaking with Decider, showrunner Fuchs discussed the pilot episode, explaining their goal was to begin the series in a way that felt both recognizable and new. He noted that, like the book and film, the story starts with a child being taken – in this case, Matty Clements – but they wanted to present it in a unique way. Fuchs also shared the reasoning behind making the first appearance of ‘It’ a mutant flying baby.

Following months of speculation, the BBC has announced it will continue making Doctor Who independently, without Disney’s participation. The BBC and Disney previously collaborated for two seasons of the show, featuring showrunner Russell T Davies and the Fifteenth Doctor, Ncuti Gatwa. This partnership also included the five-part Doctor Who spin-off, The War Between the Land and the Sea.

The film Ballad of a Small Player opens with stunning views of Macau at night, showcasing its bright hotels and casinos. The camera then focuses on a lavish hotel suite where Lord Doyle (Farrell) is passed out, surrounded by empty champagne bottles and room service leftovers—evidence of a wild night. He eventually gets up, showers, and carefully grooms himself, even shaving his thin mustache, before putting on an extravagant green suit. His preparations are interrupted by a knock at the door, and Doyle quickly hides as the bill for his expenses is slipped under the door.

Netflix’s new Italian thriller, The Monster of Florence, has become the platform’s most-watched show after its release on October 22nd. According to Variety, the series attracted 9.6 million viewers in its first week, surpassing the 8.6 million views earned by the second season of Nobody Wants This during its first week.

Now that Marvel has fired Jonathan Majors, they’ve decided to change the main villain of the Multiverse Saga. Kang, who was previously being built up in several projects, will be replaced by Doctor Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr. Although Kang and his alternate versions don’t seem to be part of the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie, Marvel could still give fans a good resolution to his story, and they already have a clear path to do so.

Toby Poser wrote, directed, and stars in Mother of Flies, alongside John and Zelda Adams (with a brief appearance by Lulu Adams). The film centers on Mickey (Zelda Adams), a college student who, with her doubtful father Jake (John Adams), sets out to find a mysterious witch. They journey to her secluded home – a unique, tree house-like structure built into the woods and appearing almost alive with visible roots and plants. Outside the house, a tall stack of stones brings to mind the look and feel of the 1999 horror film, The Blair Witch Project.
