James Bond Franchise and ‘La Femme Nikita’ Star Tchéky Karyo Dies Aged 72

Born in Istanbul in 1953 as Baruh Djaki Karyo, the actor grew up in Paris and received classical theater training with the Daniel Sorano company, later performing at the National Theatre of Strasbourg. He transitioned to film in the 1980s, achieving early recognition in the 1982 film La Balance. His performance earned him a César Award nomination and set the tone for his compelling and dramatic roles over the next forty years.
