I just finished watching Task, and it really stuck with me. It’s a tough watch – it deals with a child abduction – but what’s fascinating is how it shows the people on both sides of the investigation, the cops and the abductors, and how surprisingly similar their motivations can be. Mark Ruffalo, Tom Pelphrey, and Emilia Jones all give great performances. If you’re into this kind of intense, character-driven drama, I think you’d also really like Long Bright River over on Peacock.

These movies will likely feature new heroes, and there’s buzz that we might see the X-Men and characters like Ghost Rider join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But Marvel recently announced a key casting choice for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, and this new character has the potential to become a future leader of the Avengers.

The second season of Marvel’s Daredevil: Born Again will be available on Disney+ next spring. Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio are returning as Daredevil (Matt Murdock) and Kingpin (Wilson Fisk), continuing the story from the original Netflix series.

As the DC K.O. event wraps up, DC Comics is launching the next phase, called DC: Next Level. It will start with new stories focusing on three of the DC Universe’s most compelling characters – heroes, villains, and those who fall somewhere in between. Lobo and Batwoman are headlining this push, but Deathstroke will also be getting his own solo series soon.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sony Pictures has chosen Paul King to direct a movie based on Labubu, the popular designer toy. While the project is still in its early stages, King’s participation is a significant step forward since Sony acquired the rights to bring Labubu to the big screen earlier this year.

In early December, CBS announced it was renewing Boston Blue for a second season – and there were still two episodes left to air from the first season! This early renewal is a big vote of confidence, and Donnie Wahlberg and the rest of the cast were thrilled. Showrunners Brandon Sonnier and Brandon Margolis explained to me why getting this news from CBS was so significant.

As a big Ahsoka fan, I was really intrigued to hear Claudia Black, who played the Great Mother Klothow, talk about Season 2. While she won’t be back herself, she strongly hinted that Klothow will definitely return! Apparently, she and Disney couldn’t come to an agreement on salary – it would have meant moving from Los Angeles to London for filming, and she needed to be able to manage her family commitments. So, they’ll be recasting the role, which is a little sad, but I’m still excited to see what happens with that character!

The director recently told Empire that Cillian Murphy, known for his work in Oppenheimer, will appear in next month’s sequel, and described working with him as a “surreal” experience.
