With a production cost of $350 million, Fire and Ash needs to earn over $1 billion to be considered successful, but early signs are good as audiences are turning out in large numbers. The previous two films in the series both surpassed $1 billion, suggesting this one will too. However, Fire and Ash could end a 16-year run of the franchise dominating the box office. While Avatar and Avatar: The Way of Water were the highest-grossing films in 2009 and 2022, Fire and Ash may not reach that level of success in 2025.

Despite receiving excellent reviews and awards buzz – it has a 99% rating on Rotten Tomatoes – it seems to be flying under the radar, which would be unfortunate. Many critics believe it’s one of the best films of 2025.

I watched a lot of romance movies last year – around 20 in total! I especially loved films like We Live In Time, Lisa Frankenstein, and Challengers. I mentioned before that my favorite romances often break the mold for the genre, and this year’s picks are a bit more traditionally romantic – and there are even more of them, which is great! Let’s dive into my favorites.

Throughout the first season of Landman, Tommy, Cami, and the rest of the cast have been focused on an offshore gas rig. After a hurricane destroyed it, Monty secretly kept the insurance payout before his death. This left M-Tex responsible for the repairs, but they struggled to find the funds quickly enough. However, episode 7 of Landman season 2 dramatically shifted the circumstances.

Gal Gadot’s movie Heart of Stone was just okay, and Back in Action was enjoyable but didn’t leave a lasting impression. Netflix has seen more success with spy-themed TV shows, like the popular hits The Night Agent and Black Doves.

A rating for Splatoon 3 on a new Nintendo Switch 2 console recently appeared on PEGI (the rating was PEGI 7). This is a bit confusing because an update for Splatoon 3 already came out on the current Switch on June 12, 2025. Adding to the mystery, PEGI lists the release date as today, December 31, 2025. So far, however, no new version of Splatoon 3 has been released or even announced.

This crime thriller first appeared on TNT in 2018, but has been available on HBO Max for a while now. However, starting January 8, 2026, the show—which has two seasons and 18 episodes—will no longer be available on HBO Max and will need to find a new streaming platform.

James Cameron’s newest blockbuster has surpassed the box office earnings of many popular films, including all the James Bond movies, numerous Marvel and DC titles, and Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar. Remarkably, it has even outperformed E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Steven Spielberg’s 1982 classic, which is considered one of the most cherished and critically acclaimed films ever made.
