Marvel Studios is finishing up work on Avengers: Doomsday, directed by Joe and Anthony Russo. It’s expected to hit US theaters later this year, and a follow-up movie, Avengers: Secret Wars, is planned for 2027.
Many TV shows from the 2000s are still incredibly popular today – people stream them, talk about them, and rewatch them constantly. However, some fantastic shows from that decade have faded from public memory. This isn’t because they weren’t good; it’s simply that people’s attention shifts. These shows were often intelligent, well-made, and innovative, but they didn’t maintain widespread popularity long enough to become cultural touchstones like shows such as Supernatural, It’s Always Sunny, Gilmore Girls, or Parks and Recreation.
As a huge Star Wars fan, it feels so right that Dave Filoni is now creative director at Lucasfilm. Honestly, many of us have known for a while that the real heart of where Star Wars was going wasn’t in the big movies, but in The Clone Wars animated series. That show, originally aimed at kids, actually built the story foundations for pretty much everything Star Wars is doing now – in theaters, on TV, and on streaming. It’s amazing to see how much that series shaped the future of the galaxy far, far away!
The previous role was considered so demanding that leaders decided one person couldn’t handle it alone. Instead of hiring a single new President, they appointed two: Dave Filoni, who will continue as Chief Creative Officer, and Lynwen Brennan, who will focus on the business side as Co-President. This approach has been successful at DC Films, and hopefully, Disney’s current CEO search committee will consider a similar model.
The Star Trek section will include existing channels for the original Star Trek series, Deep Space Nine, and Voyager. A new channel dedicated to Star Trek: The Next Generation will also be added. After a limited-time run, the Next Generation channel will become a permanent part of Pluto TV’s Star Trek offerings.
