As a huge fan of The Leftovers, I always say the ‘Sudden Departure’ itself is actually one of the least bizarre things that happens. Seriously, the show throws so much at you – a strange, almost purgatory-like state of being, and the constant threat of the world ending – but what really gets to me is how grounded the characters are. It’s funny, the more out-there the show gets, the more powerfully it connects with you on an emotional level. It’s a truly incredible series.
