Pacific Rim Is Finally Getting Sequel, But Nobody Is Talking About It

Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim, a giant robot and monster movie, first came out in 2013. The film, starring Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, and Charlie Day, is set in the future where Earth is battling massive sea monsters called Kaiju that emerge from a portal in the Pacific Ocean. To fight back, humans build huge robots called Jaegers, which require two pilots connected by a mental link called the Drift to operate.

Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim quickly became his biggest box office hit, and a sequel, Pacific Rim Uprising, came out in 2018. However, like many fans, I prefer to forget the second film ever happened! The original Pacific Rim remains one of my all-time favorites.

It doesn’t appear that more Pacific Rim Uprising sequels are planned. Although a live-action prequel series might be coming to Prime Video, recent news suggests this isn’t confirmed just yet.

Pacific Rim: Breachfall Is Seriously Elusive

Zatu Games has created Pacific Rim: Breachfall, a board game based on the popular Pacific Rim movies. At £43.65, it’s a bit of a splurge, but a great option for fans of giant robots and epic battles. You can pre-order it now, and here’s the official description:

In Pacific Rim: Breachfall, two to four players compete in teams. One team controls the Pan Pacific Defense Corps (PPDC) and builds massive robots called Jaegers. The opposing team plays as the alien Precursors, summoning giant monsters known as Kaiju with the aim of wiping out humanity.

In this game, two sides are battling with different objectives. The PRECURSORS aim to demolish all cities bordering the Pacific Ocean. Meanwhile, the PPDC uses giant robots called Jaegers to seal ‘THE BREACH’ and prevent monsters known as KAIJU from attacking Earth.

The game ends when one of these goals is achieved. The first team to reach its goal is the winner!

During gameplay, feel free to talk strategy with your partner and even reveal your cards to them. Just remember that everyone else can overhear your conversation!

Although the board game sounds promising, it was originally announced and available for pre-order back in 2023. Unfortunately, there’s still no official release date, so it’s unclear when fans can expect Pacific Rim: Breachfall.

Pacific Rim Fans Might Be In For A Wait

On the Reddit forum r/PacificRim, people were already wondering about Pacific Rim Breachfall back in 2023. One thread asked, “Why isn’t anyone talking about it?” and another commenter simply asked, “Is it still being developed?”

We honestly don’t know what’s happening with Pacific Rim: Breachfall. There haven’t been any official announcements about its release, and even though people can still pre-order it, nobody has actually received a copy yet. All we can do is wait to see if the game will ever be released, but despite the delays, it still seems like a great buy for Pacific Rim fans.
