Clint Eastwood is famous for the incredibly popular westerns A Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More, and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. These films, known as the Dollars Trilogy, have become so well-known that they sometimes overshadow his other westerns from that time, particularly recently. But good news for Clint Eastwood fans: one of his best westerns, Hang ‘Em High, will be available to stream for free for a limited time! While it might not be his most popular film today, it’s still a fantastic western and worth watching.
You can currently watch Hang ‘Em High on Tubi for free, but it won’t be available forever. The movie is listed as leaving the platform soon, though Tubi hasn’t announced a specific date. We expect it will be gone by the end of December 2025, so if you want to stream it for free, it’s best to watch it as soon as possible.
As a huge Clint Eastwood fan, I’ve always loved his tough-guy roles – especially those classic Westerns like Unforgiven and the Dollars Trilogy. But Hang ‘Em High is a bit different. He still has the gun, of course, but this time he’s wearing a badge! He plays Jed Cooper, a man nearly lynched for a crime he didn’t commit. Luckily, a marshal saves him and offers him a job as a lawman – with one big condition: Jed has to promise to not get revenge on the guys who tried to kill him. Basically, the story is about…
Jed Cooper, wrongly accused of cattle theft and nearly lynched by a mob, is rescued by Marshal Dave Bliss and Judge Adam Fenton. They offer him a job as a federal marshal, but warn him not to use his authority to get revenge. However, when Jed discovers some of his attackers are now committing other crimes, he’s determined to see them brought to justice.
‘Hang ‘Em High’ Was a Major Hit in the 1960s

Released in 1968, Hang ‘Em High was a big hit with audiences, earning $11 million at the box office. That’s equivalent to about $102 million today when adjusted for inflation. Critics also loved the film, and it currently has a 92% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, based on reviews from both its time and today.
More than 25,000 viewers have given the film a 73% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. While modern audiences might prefer classics like The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, Hang ‘Em High remains a fantastic western. One viewer recently shared, “I can’t believe I missed this when it was released, but I really enjoyed this Hollywood version of a spaghetti western – Clint Eastwood is classic Clint! The music is dramatic, but the story is solid and kept me entertained the whole time.”
