New ‘The Odyssey’ Images Reveal Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway & Mia Goth’s Characters

Director Christopher Nolan is gradually revealing details about his new action-adventure film, The Odyssey, starring Matt Damon as Odysseus. The movie aims to be the most complete adaptation yet of Homer’s classic Greek story. To achieve this ambitious goal, Nolan has assembled a star-studded cast alongside Damon, featuring some of the world’s most popular actors.

As a huge movie fan, I was really excited to see the first images from Nolan’s The Odyssey in Empire! They give us our first look at Tom Holland as Telemachus, Odysseus’ son, and Anne Hathaway as Penelope, his wife. I was a little surprised to learn Mia Goth is playing Melantho, one of the palace maids in Ithaca – I’d heard rumors she might be Circe! The pictures don’t give away much about the story, but it’s clear Nolan is sticking to his style and building incredible practical sets. You can check them out below – they look amazing!

I’m so excited about Damon joining the cast of The Odyssey – it’s already shaping up to be an incredible movie! But director Nolan has emphasized that, despite all the amazing actors and spectacle, it’s still fundamentally the story of a man trying to get home. We’ll follow Odysseus on this huge, challenging journey back to Ithaca after the Trojan War, where his family is waiting. He’s going to face some unbelievable challenges – think mythical creatures like the Minotaur and even the gods themselves, like Poseidon! What really drew Nolan to this story, though, is Odysseus’s incredible ability to think on his feet and overcome anything. He calls him a brilliant strategist, and I can’t wait to see how that plays out on screen.

I was particularly drawn to the Emily Wilson translation, which opens with ‘Tell me about a complicated man.’ What fascinated me most about the character was his brilliance, his resourcefulness, and his sheer ingenuity. He’s much more than just a warrior; he’s a masterful strategist and incredibly cunning.
