I’ll never forget discovering Final Fantasy Tactics on the original PlayStation, and I’ve played it on every version since. It’s a truly classic strategy RPG, and fans are excited about a surprise new release this year, coming after the recent remaster of the Ivalice Chronicles.
Square Enix unexpectedly announced some new Final Fantasy games planned for release this year, and Tactics will be among them.
Final Fantasy Tactics Artbook Coming November 10
With Gorgeous Art

Square Enix is releasing ‘The Art of Final Fantasy Tactics’ later this year. You’ll be able to buy it as a hardcover book or a digital copy starting November 10, 2026. The book will have 128 pages and cost $27.99 for the hardcover version or $14.99 for the digital version.
This official art book brings the world of Final Fantasy Tactics to life with stunning visuals. It’s a full-color, hardcover book printed on high-quality paper, showcasing artwork from the original game, The War of the Lions, and other Ivalice Chronicles titles. You’ll find concept art, early map designs, packaging illustrations, and brand-new character and job designs you’ve never seen before.
Honestly, I was hoping for something really special with this game, considering how awesome the series usually is. But the thing that really got my attention was the promise of brand new character and job art – stuff we’ve never seen before! Some of the jobs in the older Tactics game are just legendary, and honestly overshadow everything else in the series. So, even if the game isn’t perfect, that art alone might make it worth a look.
Not many art previews have been shared yet, but the release will feature hundreds of illustrations spread across 128 pages. The game benefits from the talents of Hiroshi Minagawa and Akihiko Yoshida, two well-known artists from Square Enix who have contributed to many popular game series.
More FF Tactics Is Always A Good Thing
Ivalice Is A Great Setting
I first played Final Fantasy Tactics in 1998, and I immediately recognized it as a landmark RPG from Square Enix. It was key in establishing the Ivalice world, and its strong reputation has led to several re-releases over the years.
Since its release, the game has popped up in many other projects, including a raid in Final Fantasy XIV that featured characters from Tactics, and countless other nods and appearances by its cast. Both Square Enix and fans agree that it had a huge influence on strategy RPGs and the Final Fantasy series as a whole.
Okay, so if you’re like me and absolutely loved Final Fantasy Tactics, you need to know about this book. Seriously, that game had some of the most gorgeous artwork Square Enix has ever done, and this looks like it’s celebrating that. I’m already planning to grab a copy!
