Netflix’s New 6-Part Series Is a Must-See for Chernobyl Fans

A new 6-episode drama on Netflix could be just what viewers have been looking for since the acclaimed series Chernobyl. The show, released on February 11, 2026, is based on a powerful true story about finding hope amidst widespread corruption and disaster.

Netflix is dropping a lot of exciting new series this month, with popular choices like Unfamiliar and the action-packed Motorvalley. This new 6-episode show is definitely worth watching, particularly if you were a fan of Chernobyl.

Netflix Just Released Lead Children – What It’s About

Netflix recently released a compelling 6-part series called Lead Children. It’s based on the real story of Dr. Jolanta Wadowska-Król, a doctor who uncovered a major lead poisoning crisis in Poland during the 1970s, and it’s definitely worth watching this week.

The Polish Netflix miniseries, Lead Children (also known as Olowiane dzieci), is a powerful and moving show that’s well worth watching this weekend. It’s a tough watch at times, similar to Chernobyl, but ultimately it’s an uplifting story about a woman’s incredible fight against a dishonest and unfair system.

Dr. Jolanta fights to save thousands of children suffering from heavy-metal poisoning, despite facing opposition and pressure from her government, which was under Soviet control. The authorities attempted to conceal the children’s illness and denied any connection to a local smelting plant, but it was later confirmed that the plant directly caused the widespread sickness and deaths.

Lead Children Is Perfect To Watch For Chernobyl Fans

Although Chernobyl is widely considered a brilliant and unforgettable limited series, it’s unlikely to continue with additional seasons or spin-offs, a common practice for many streaming shows today. That’s where a series like Lead Children steps in, exploring similar ideas, themes, and difficult moral questions within its story.

Similar to Chernobyl, Lead Children is a brief series with only six episodes, one more than Chernobyl‘s five. Both shows have comparable lengths, but they’re intense and might be difficult to watch all at once, though it’s certainly doable. The series also brings to mind Netflix’s upcoming four-part drama Toxic Town, which received perfect ratings on Rotten Tomatoes and was co-created by Jack Thorne, who also created Adolescence.

It’s still early to say how critics will react to Lead Children, as only a few reviews are currently available, including a 3 out of 4 stars rating from RogerEbert.com. However, given its noticeable similarities in style and themes to Chernobyl, Lead Children is likely to be one of Netflix’s best-reviewed new limited series when it releases in February 2026.
