Netflix’s Hit Comedy Spy Series Is Back With ‘A Man on the Inside’ Season 2 Trailer

Netflix quickly ordered a second season of its popular show, A Man on the Inside, after a successful first season. Like the hit series Only Murders in the Building, the show has a similar style and features Ted Danson as a unique private investigator. In season one, he investigated a case within a retirement home, and the story was based on real events originally documented in a film. However, the upcoming season will move beyond the true story and explore a completely new, original plot that builds on the show’s initial idea.

Mike Schur, the creator of The Good Place and the first season of Man on the Inside, is back with the second season of the show. The latest trailer reveals that Ted Danson’s character, Charles Nieuwendyk, will be posing as a college professor to investigate who blackmailed the university’s president (Max Greenfield). The season will also introduce a host of new characters played by Gary Cole, Michaela Conlin, Sam Huntington, David Strathairn, Jill Talley, Madison Hu, Lisa Gilroy, Linda Park, and Mary Steenburgen, all of whom are potential suspects.

As a big fan of the first season, I’m really excited to hear that so many of the characters we already love are coming back to help Charles with his new case! Mary Elizabeth Ellis, Lilah Richcreek Estrada, Stephanie Beatriz, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Sally Struthers, and John Getz – the whole gang! Netflix is teasing a seriously twisty mystery, calling it a ‘very juicy puzzle.’ Plus, they’re adding a romantic element this time around! Charles is going to meet Mona, played by Steenburgen, and she’s described as a fun, free-spirited music teacher. I’m definitely hooked already!

Now that Michael Schur is back to create season two, viewers of A Man on the Inside can anticipate the same heartwarming and funny storytelling he’s known for from The Good Place. However, this time he’s exploring a new type of story, building on the suspense and secrets of the first season with a fresh setting and a new mystery. The show will likely retain Schur’s focus on compelling characters, particularly by placing Charles in a more comfortable and recognizable environment.
