Netflix‘s gritty crime thriller series finds a new successful case to tackle.
Crime thrillers are consistently popular on Netflix, and their gripping nature makes them ideal for watching multiple episodes at once. Netflix releases several shows in this genre each year, and most are well-received. Some of these thrillers come from outside the US, offering fresh settings, moods, and storylines. Now, after a five-year break, one of Netflix’s top thriller series is back – and its strong early viewership numbers prove the wait was well worth it.
Netflix’s crime thriller, The Chestnut Man, is currently a global hit, ranking as the 6th most-watched show worldwide according to FlixPatrol. The show returned for its second season, titled The Chestnut Man: Hide and Seek, on May 7th, following the release of the first season on September 29, 2021. The new season is based on Søren Sveistrup’s novel, Hide and Seek. It quickly gained popularity, climbing to 9th place worldwide within a day of its release and now reaching the 6th spot.
Netflix’s new series, The Chestnut Man, is quickly gaining popularity, appearing on the global charts alongside shows like Thank You, Next, Should I Marry A Murderer?, If Wishes Could Kill, and The Handmaid’s Tale. Currently, it’s outranked by Man on Fire and other titles like Legends and WWE Backlash. The show is now trending in 46 countries and is the most-watched series on Netflix in six: the Czech Republic, Denmark, Hungary, Norway, Slovakia, and Sweden. A new set of six episodes has driven this surge in popularity.
Although The Chestnut Man: Hide and Seek is popular globally, it hasn’t yet become a hit in the United States. As of today, the Netflix series isn’t among the top 10 shows on the platform in the US. Currently, The Roast of Kevin Hart is number one, followed by shows like Man on Fire, Lord of the Flies, La Brea, Running Point, and others. I gave the season a very positive review, awarding it a 9 out of 10 in ScreenRant’s assessment.
Season two of The Chestnut Man: Hide and Seek reunites detectives Mark Hess and Naia Thulin as they tackle a disturbing new case involving a sinister twist on a children’s rhyme and a dangerous stalker. The season is full of clues and surprising turns, including a significant character death, which has made it a big hit for the streaming platform. Given the show’s popularity worldwide, a third season of The Chestnut Man could arrive on Netflix sooner rather than later.
