While fans await the potential release of Taylor Sheridan’s newest Yellowstone spin-off, Dutton Ranch, one of his lesser-known series is leaving Paramount+, which has a whole section dedicated to his work. Yellowstone is his biggest hit, but he’s also created several prequels like 1883, as well as shows like Landman, Mayor of Kingstown, and Tulsa King. Many consider his 2023 action thriller, Special Ops: Lioness, to be his best work, and it’s gained a strong following online – but that could change soon as the show is about to be removed from streaming.
Zoe Saldaña, Nicole Kidman, and Morgan Freeman star in Special Ops: Lioness, a new series about a top-secret CIA program. The program trains female Marines to get close to terrorist groups by infiltrating their families, with the ultimate goal of eliminating key figures. Created by Taylor Sheridan, the show moves between the American heartland and the Middle East, but still features his signature strong characters. Paramount invested heavily in the series – around $3 to $4 million per episode – and the result is a high-quality, action-packed thriller.
You can watch the series on Paramount+, but it’s also available on Netflix internationally – though not for long. Starting April 17th, Lioness will no longer be available on Netflix in Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, and Colombia. Australian viewers have even less time, as it will be removed on April 16th. Netflix originally licensed the show for one year, and that period is ending. As of now, Netflix hasn’t renewed the license for Lioness in those regions.
‘Special Ops: Lioness’ Season 3 Is Already in Development
The first two seasons of Special Ops: Lioness are available on Paramount+ (with Season 1 also streaming on Netflix in some regions). After Season 2 came out in 2024, there was no news about whether the show would be renewed. However, fans can now breathe a sigh of relief – Special Ops: Lioness has been confirmed for a third season.
The talented team that made Season 2 so great is back for Season 3. Taylor Sheridan will continue to write, direct, and act, and both Zoe Saldaña and Nicole Kidman will be stars and executive producers on the show.
‘Lioness’ Season 3 Will Be “Even Bigger” Than Before

Paramount+
Fans are already excited about the show’s return, but the new season promises to be even better than before! James Jordan has hinted that it will be much bigger in scope, with a storyline filmed all around the globe. Production on Season 3 is nearing completion, and while a late 2026 release isn’t impossible, early 2027 seems more probable. An official release date hasn’t been announced yet.
