In the final episode of NCIS Season 21, Gary Cole’s character Alden Parker had a peculiar dream about a girl named Lily while severely injured. Although certain aspects of this enigma were clarified in Season 22, several questions remain unanswered when Season 23 airs on the 2025 TV lineup. Fortunately, NCIS showrunner Steven D. Binder has confirmed that this specific plotline won’t intersect with any other ongoing storylines.

If you’re curious if the Lily enigma will connect to Parker’s struggle against Kansas City Mob boss Carla Marino, who he suspects killed his father in the NCIS Season 22 finale, Binder clarified to TVLine that this won’t happen. In other words, the storylines of the Lily mystery and Parker’s conflict with Carla Marino remain separate.

I’m really happy that Steven D. Binder and the NCIS creative team made the choice to keep Carla Marino separate from the Lily storyline. With so many twists and turns already surrounding Lily, adding Carla to the mix would make things overly complicated. Moreover, the Carla narrative is expected to conclude early in Season 23, leaving Timothy McGee, Nick Torres, Jessica Knight, Kasie Hines, and Jimmy Palmer to help Alden Parker locate a woman who has been causing him trouble since his FBI days.

Regarding Carla Marino’s storyline, Binder mentioned that the new season is set to kick off with high tension, lots of action, and aims to maintain the pace throughout.
