NCIS: Tony And Ziva Finally Revealed Why Michael Weatherly And Cote De Pablo’s Characters Didn’t Get Married, But I’m Still Rooting For Tiva To Pull Through

Warning: SPOILERS for the NCIS: Tony & Ziva episode “Ride or Die” are ahead!

It feels like just yesterday *NCIS: Tony & Ziva* premiered… and it really was only last month! Now, the first season is coming to a close, with tonight’s episode, “Ride or Die,” being the second-to-last one. Things really heated up in the present-day storyline, as the action moved to Isla Safira, Spain. There, Martine finally joined forces with Tony and Ziva, killed Aaron Graves right in front of Jonah Markham, and unfortunately, Tali was kidnapped by Graves’ crew.

If you have a Paramount+ subscription, you can watch this episode of *Tony & Ziva* to see everything that happens. But what I found most interesting in “Ride or Die” was finally understanding why Tony and Ziva didn’t get married a few years ago. Even though I know the reason now, I’m still hoping they end up together – many *NCIS* fans, who call them “Tiva,” are too!

Tony And Ziva Cancelled Their Wedding At The Last Minute

Tony and Ziva were getting ready to marry in Barbados in November 2021, and like with any wedding, things weren’t going exactly as planned. Tony took charge of handling all the details so Ziva could relax before the ceremony. When they found out a hurricane would prevent Tony’s father from arriving on time, Ziva suggested postponing the wedding by one day to ensure he could be there.

For just $7.99 a month with the Essential plan, or $12.99 a month for ad-free Premium, Paramount+ is the place to stream *NCIS: Tony & Ziva* and follow the rest of the *NCIS* universe. See the deal here.

Let me tell you, the wedding celebrations took a seriously dark turn. Little Tali went missing, and Tony, in a misguided attempt to handle things himself, didn’t immediately tell Ziva. He figured the wedding party could find her. But word got out, and when Ziva found out, she understandably confronted Tony, and a huge fight erupted. Thankfully, Tali was found quickly, but the argument really opened old wounds. Tony lashed out, dredging up the four years Ziva was forced to disappear – a painful period he clearly hadn’t forgotten. It was a really difficult scene to watch, honestly.

That evening, while relaxing by the hotel pool, Ziva mentioned how quickly Tony had proposed, especially since she’d just worried she was upsetting their daughter, Tali. This led to an honest conversation where they admitted they both had trouble trusting each other, and ultimately, they decided to call off the wedding.

Hopefully Tiva Getting Back Together Sticks

Although it was disappointing when Tony and Ziva called off their wedding, I appreciated that they did so calmly and thoughtfully, not in a fit of anger. Now, with the recent *NCIS: Tony & Ziva* episodes showing them reconnecting romantically, I’m hoping they finally realize they’re meant to be together, especially with only one episode left this season.

More NCIS: Tony & Ziva Coverage

I really enjoyed the NCIS episode with Tony and Ziva chasing a killer robot dog, but I was surprised to learn how they actually filmed that scene!

Michael Weatherly playfully suggested a future for ‘NCIS’ set in a retirement home, but many fans, including myself, would happily watch his character, Tony, and Ziva David in any show, anywhere!

Cote de Pablo agreed to appear in the *NCIS* spinoff only if Tony and Ziva had a positive resolution to their story this season. So, it’s reasonable to expect they’ll remain in love, even if it’s just as friends. Their daughter, Tali, worried about them getting back together in a recent episode, but she might feel differently once she sees how committed they are to making their relationship work.

The last episode of *NCIS: Tony & Ziva* Season 1 will be available on Paramount+ next week. Whether the show gets another season is still unknown. However, you can continue watching the *NCIS* universe on the streaming service with new seasons of *NCIS* (Season 23), *NCIS: Origins* (Season 2), and *NCIS: Sydney* (Season 3) after they first air on CBS.
