Despite receiving mixed reviews (an 18% score on Rotten Tomatoes), the NBC thriller series The Hunting Party is proving popular with Netflix viewers and has made it into the platform’s Top 10 list.
This crime drama centers around a team of investigators tasked with hunting down escaped prisoners from a highly secure facility. It originally aired on NBC in January 2025, and recently became available on Netflix on February 15th to promote the second season of The Hunting Party, which premiered on NBC on January 8th.
During the week of February 16th to 22nd, The Hunting Party season 1 landed at number 7 on Netflix’s list of the most popular shows worldwide. It received 3.5 million views and a total of 24.6 million hours of watch time. It was outranked by Reality Check: Inside America’s Next Top Model season 1, The Night Agent season 3, Bridgerton season 4, The Lincoln Lawyer season 4, Love Is Blind: Ohio, and Jeffrey Epstein: Filthy Rich.
This week, The Hunting Party season 1 is a Top 10 show on Netflix in the United States. It’s performing better than His & Hers, Raw: 2026 (February 16), and the first season of Being Gordon Ramsay, which landed in 10th place.
JJ Bailey’s The Hunting Party centers on Rebecca Henderson (Melissa Roxburgh), a retired FBI profiler brought back into service when a secret prison in Wyoming is destroyed. She joins a highly skilled team of operatives to hunt down and recapture the dangerous serial killers who escaped.
I’m really enjoying the cast of this show! Of course, Melissa Roxburgh is fantastic as the lead, but the core group also features Nick Wechsler, Patrick Sabongui, Josh McKenzie, and Sara Garcia. And it’s great to see familiar faces popping up too – Zabryna Guevara, Kari Matchett, Matt Frewer, and Siobhan Williams all have recurring roles, which adds a lot to the series.
Season 2 will feature some new faces, including Luke Forbes in a recurring role. Eric McCormack and Niecy Nash-Betts will also make special appearances.
Although The Hunting Party is available on both Netflix and NBC, critics haven’t been impressed. It currently has an 18% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with many reviewers saying the premise was interesting but the execution fell flat. The show seems to rush through its plot about a serial killer, making it feel like just another easily forgotten crime drama.
Despite initial mixed reactions, The Hunting Party has generally been well-received by viewers. Season one earned an 81% approval rating, and season two increased to 82%, making it a show that people either really love or really dislike.
