Fans can look forward to seeing Team 7 back together! A new trailer for the latest installment in the series showed that characters from the very beginning of the manga – both heroes and villains – will be returning.
The Naruto series features significant jumps in time. We first meet Naruto as a young boy, then see him grow into a teenager during the Shippuden arc, and now he’s a father in the Boruto sequel where his son is the main character. Even with these changes, many fans still love the original Team 7 – Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura – and fondly remember their adventures with Kakashi throughout the Land of Fire.
Team 7 Reunites in the Official Naruto Card Game Ahead of Worldwide Release
Bandai had teased the Naruto Card Game before, but we hadn’t seen much of how it actually plays. Now, just before Gen Con 2026 (July 30-August 2), a new trailer reveals gameplay details and shows off some of the characters that will be included.
I’ve noticed a lot of excitement around the Naruto Card Game, but it looks like we’ll have to be patient – it won’t be officially available until Summer 2027. The good news is they’re running demo play sessions at conventions worldwide in the meantime, so people can get a taste of the game before the full launch.
The Naruto Card Game will include characters from across the entire Naruto story, including those from Boruto. The game will feature brand new artwork created specifically for the cards, alongside images taken directly from the Naruto manga – and these cards will come in different levels of rarity. So far, it’s been confirmed that Team 7 will be playable, and players will be able to build decks around them.
Naruto Card Game’s Rules Have Been Revealed
The trailer explained how the Naruto Card Game is played. The rules should be easy to pick up for anyone familiar with card games. Each player builds a deck around a Leader Card, and the goal is to defeat your opponent’s Leader. Decks include Character Cards—some powerful EX Characters require specific conditions to play—as well as Chakra Cards, which provide energy, and Summon Cards needed to bring characters into play.
I’ve been looking at the Naruto Card Game, and each player builds a deck of 57 cards. It always includes one Leader card, fifty Character cards, five Chakra cards, and one Summon. A key thing is that all your Character cards have to be the same color as your Leader. What’s really interesting is how they play – you put many cards down face-down, then flip them over when you want to use their abilities. It feels right for Naruto because it’s all about ninjas and being sneaky rather than just strong! The Chakra cards work similarly; you flip them over as you use them to power up your Characters’ special Jutsu moves.
This isn’t the only new Naruto game announced recently. Another reveal happened at San Diego Comic-Con this year, and we expect to learn more about its North American release date soon, after it launched in Europe earlier in the year.
