He finds strength in unexpected friendships, especially with a fellow inmate named Red, and he treats everyone with kindness. It’s truly inspiring to see him hold onto hope, even when things seem impossible. It’s a film that really stays with you.

The film begins as a thoughtful reflection and gradually builds to an inspiring celebration of morality, emphasizing the importance of doing what’s right even in difficult times. Despite initially failing at the box office, strong performances from Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman, combined with renewed interest in VHS tapes, have turned it into a much-loved classic.
