MobLand has left Tom Hardy to sleep with the fishes.
Besides the popular series created by Taylor Sheridan, MobLand is a standout performer for Paramount. The show boasts a strong cast including Tom Hardy, Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, Joanne Froggatt, and Paddy Considine. Critics have given the first season a 76% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and while there’s no firm date yet, director Guy Ritchie anticipates season 2 will be released later this year.
According to Puck News, actor Tom Hardy has been let go from the show MobLand before the start of season 3. This follows reports of disagreements with producers Jez Butterworth and David Glasser. Sources say Hardy was frequently late to set during season 2 and often offered unwanted feedback on the scripts, even changing lines. He also reportedly wasn’t happy with the show’s decision to feature a large cast, including Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan.
According to a source, a threat of resignation from Butterworth led Paramount to fire Hardy. As of now, neither Paramount nor Hardy has released a statement. While Hardy will still appear in season 2 of the show, it’s believed they won’t be involved in future seasons, starting with season 3, leaving the show’s future uncertain.
I’m a huge fan of MobLand, and I’m really worried about what happens to Harry Da Souza after the recent changes. Hardy did an amazing job playing him – this incredibly clever, streetwise guy born in Portugal who basically makes problems disappear for the Harriman family. He’s a fixer, and when things really need to be done, Harry’s your man. But his life is so stressful, and it’s really taking a toll on his marriage to Jan. He’s fiercely loyal to both Conrad and Maeve, which adds even more pressure. With Hardy gone from the show, it’s hard to imagine how the story will continue without such a key character – Harry was a major player, and I’m anxious to see what the future holds for him and the whole series.
Emmett J. Scanlan, who plays Paul O’Donnell on MobLand, announced that filming for season 2 finished in March. Due to recent events, the show might make some adjustments to season 2 to avoid unexpectedly removing his character, Hardy, in season 3.
Several incidents and claims have surfaced regarding actor Tom Hardy’s behavior on film sets. During the production of Mad Max: Fury Road, there were reports of him frequently being late, which caused tension with co-star Charlize Theron. On the set of Lawless, a physical fight reportedly broke out between Hardy and Shia LaBeouf, and director John Hillcoat confirmed they had to be separated.
MobLand is available to watch on Paramount+.
