Misty’s season 4 ending gets a new tease.
As a horror fan, I’ve been completely hooked on Yellowjackets since it first landed on Showtime in 2021. Created by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson, this series brilliantly weaves together two timelines: the immediate aftermath of a devastating plane crash that leaves a high school girls’ soccer team stranded in the Canadian wilderness, and the ripple effects of that trauma years later. We just finished season three – it came out in February 2025 – and unfortunately, Showtime has confirmed that season four will be the show’s last. It’s sad to see it end, but I’m eager to see how they wrap up this compelling, unsettling story.
Christina Ricci, known for her role as the adult Misty in Yellowjackets, has announced on Instagram that filming for season 4 has wrapped. She shared a photo of herself wearing sunglasses and with a bloody face, hinting that the final season will be “insane.” You can see the post below.
Ricci shared her excitement, writing, “What a fantastic two years for Misty! The final season is going to be incredible.”
Misty remains a standout character on Yellowjackets, consistently surprising viewers. Both the teenage and adult versions of Misty have demonstrated a growing tendency towards causing trouble and controlling others, with the adult Misty already responsible for at least two deaths. A recent post by Christina Ricci, who plays the adult Misty, hints that Misty’s violent behavior might finally have consequences in the show’s final episodes.
Wow, season three of Yellowjackets left me with so much to think about! I was shocked to find out Mari is actually the girl they found in that pit at the very beginning – it all makes sense now. And can you believe Shauna was the Antler Queen this whole time? That was a huge twist! But the biggest surprise for me was learning that Cassie pushed Lottie down the stairs. I honestly didn’t see that coming, and I’m desperate to know what happens next!
It’s still unclear how the younger and older versions of Misty will connect to the remaining mysteries, but Christina Ricci finishing her scenes suggests we won’t have to wait much longer for answers. Melanie Lynskey, who plays adult Shauna, recently announced that filming is almost complete.
There’s no confirmed release date for Yellowjackets season 4 yet. However, if filming finishes within the next couple of months, it will probably premiere in late 2024 or early 2025. Previous seasons have had between nine and ten episodes, and season 4 is expected to have a similar number.
Despite initial plans for five seasons, creators Lyle and Nickerson have decided to finish the story with season four. While details about the ending are still unclear, a recent post from Ricci hints that when Yellowjackets comes back, viewers can expect some shocking and violent moments.
