Miral Extends Bid Deadline for Harry Potter Land at Yas Island

Enthusiasts of Harry Potter now have an exciting new place to anticipate, as Warner Bros. is officially planning to open a magical new land on Yas Island. This expansion of Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi aims to offer fans an unforgettable experience.

This is the debut of the initial Harry Potter themed area in Abu Dhabi, and it’s also the first Wizarding World-inspired attraction that has been created beyond the Universal Studios brand.

The potential opening of the new Harry Potter themed land in Abu Dhabi is expected to occur sometime between 2026 and 2027, but an exact date hasn’t been announced yet. As Phase Two moves forward, we can anticipate further information about contractors, ride designs, and construction milestones.

Scope of the Expansion

In a nutshell, the Harry Potter project in Abu Dhabi spans almost 10 acres and includes three unique rides, themed stores, interactive eateries, and live performances. The design is said to deviate from that of Universal’s versions, promising exclusive ride experiences not yet available in any other Harry Potter-themed parks.

The anticipated construction expenses are expected to range between 2 billion UAE Dirhams (AED) and 3 billion UAE Dirhams, which is approximately $545 million to $816 million in US dollars. This phase encompasses themed building projects, mechanical and electrical installations, as well as exterior displays.

Progress and Key Partners

Work on initial projects commenced several months ago, with the NSCC International and Emirates Electrical & Instrumentation Company taking charge of preparatory and construction duties.

In this scenario, EllisDon, a consulting firm based in Canada, is serving as the principal project manager, overseeing the various aspects of the project. On the other hand, Egis, a French design company, is responsible for creating the project’s layout and spatial design.

Strategic Positioning and Background

Initially unveiled in November 2022 by Miral and Warner Bros. Discovery, this project is slated to be completed, marking its position as the sixth location worldwide bearing the Wizarding World brand and the initial one established beyond the Universal Parks & Resorts collection.

Warner Bros.’ president of global brands and experiences, Pam Lifford, expressed that the addition of our lands at Universal parks will create an entirely new and breathtaking spot for fans to fully engage with,” is one way to paraphrase the original statement in a more natural and easy-to-read manner.

Miral aims to draw in more global families as tourists to Yas Island, while also working towards making Abu Dhabi a globally recognized hub for captivating entertainment experiences.

Wider Yas Island Vision

The Harry Potter land in Abu Dhabi is one piece of a broader expansion of Yas Island.

In May 2025, it was revealed that Miral had teamed up with Disney to construct the first Disney-themed park resort in the Middle East. This exciting new addition will be a part of the expanding collection of attractions on Yas Island, which already includes SeaWorld Abu Dhabi, Ferrari World, Etihad Arena, and Yas Waterworld.
