Milly Alcock and Toni Collette are starring in the new survival thriller, Hot Mother. Lucy Knox wrote and directed the film, having previously created a short film with the same title in 2020.
In Hot Mother, a daughter and her mom head to a spa hoping to strengthen their bond. Their peaceful retreat quickly turns dangerous when they become trapped inside a sauna with no help in sight. They’ll have to work together to find a way out before time runs out.
Alex Coco, a producer of the Academy Award-winning film Anora, and Carver Films will produce Hot Mother. Naomi Collette will not only star in the movie but also executive produce it through her production company, Vocab Films.
Anna McLeish and Sarah Shaw, the founders of Carver Films, highly commended Lucy Knox’s skills as a director and writer, and also praised the film’s actors. In a statement, they expressed their excitement about sharing Knox’s unique vision with a wider audience in a full-length feature film. They noted their long-standing awareness of Knox’s talent and believe she’s fully prepared to deliver ‘Hot Mother’ to audiences globally, thanks to its captivating story and strong cast.
I’m really hyped about this new movie! I’ve always admired Lucy’s work – she’s one of those directors other filmmakers look up to, and I love supporting those kinds of artists. Plus, with actresses like Collette and Alcock leading the way, I think this film has the potential to reach a huge audience worldwide and really establish Lucy as a major new voice in directing. It’s going to be something special, I can feel it!
Collette is a well-known actress in the horror genre, having starred in many highly praised films. She’s known for playing complicated characters in movies like The Sixth Sense (as Lynn Sear) and Hereditary (as Annie Graham). She also took on the role of Evelyn Wade in the Netflix series, Wayward.
Milly Alcock is widely recognized for playing Supergirl in James Gunn’s Superman and young Rhaenyra Targaryen in the Game of Thrones prequel, House of the Dragon. But before those roles, she also appeared in a few horror projects, including the 2018 film The School and a 2020 horror short called The Familiars.
Production on the movie Hot Mother is scheduled to start in 2026. As of today, a release date hasn’t been announced.
