Mickey’s PhilharMagic at Magic Kingdom will be temporarily closed for updates starting November 1, 2025. It’s expected to be closed for about three weeks, with showtimes currently scheduled to resume on November 23rd, putting it back in operation before Thanksgiving.
Disney is calling the park closure a standard renovation, not a large-scale rebuild. They haven’t shared details about exactly what work will be done.
Rumors suggest the theater might get new seats. Disney hasn’t officially said whether they’ll also be upgrading the projector, sound system, or special effects during this renovation. They have made similar improvements – like new seats and better air conditioning – at other parks in the past. For now, it’s unclear exactly what work will be done.
The speculation comes as fans note that PhilharMagic currently seems to be in good shape.
Context
Mickey’s PhilharMagic debuted at Magic Kingdom in 2003, taking the place of The Legend of the Lion King in Fantasyland. The show follows Donald Duck as he experiences a musical adventure through classic Disney movie moments from films like Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, and Peter Pan. In 2021, the Magic Kingdom show was updated to include a scene from Coco, featuring the song “Un Poco Loco.”

Disney World is updating some of its attractions, and several are currently closed. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is undergoing a major renovation and isn’t expected to reopen until 2026. Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin closed in August 2025 for improvements to the ride vehicles and overall experience. Plus, Tom Sawyer’s Island and the Rivers of America have closed permanently to make way for a new area themed around the movie *Cars*.

If you’re visiting in early November 2025, please be aware that Mickey’s PhilharMagic will be closed from November 1st to November 22nd. We recommend having a backup plan, like another indoor show or activity, during those dates.
