Men in Black II Streaming On Tubi Confirmed

A sci-fi movie starring Will Smith, often overlooked when it was first released over twenty years ago, is now gaining popularity thanks to its arrival on a new streaming service.

Only four days after becoming available on Tubi, Men in Black II has quickly become the most popular movie on the streaming service. According to FlixPatrol, the 2002 sequel starring Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones surpassed hundreds of other free titles to reach the No. 1 spot. It replaced the original Men in Black, which was the top movie on Tubi for the first three days of 2026.

Released on July 3, 2002, Men in Black II brings back Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones as Agents J and K. They team up once more to combat a new alien threat, Serleena, played by Lara Flynn Boyle. The movie also stars a talented supporting cast including Johnny Knoxville, Tony Shalhoub, Patrick Warburton, and Rip Torn.

The Men in Black series started as a comic book created by Lowell Cunningham, published by Marvel Comics. The initial run lasted six issues, from 1990 to 1991. Since then, the comic has been revived several times with short story arcs continuing the adventures of its famous agents.

The second Men in Black movie didn’t live up to the success of the first. Critics on Rotten Tomatoes only gave it a 38% approval rating, finding it lacked the originality of the original, which boasts a 91% rating. Audiences weren’t much more impressed, giving it a score of 45%. Of the first three Men in Black films, the sequel is considered the weakest and has the lowest overall ratings.

Is the Men in Black Franchise Dead?

The Men in Black films were once a very successful franchise, delivering three consecutive hit movies. However, the series has declined significantly since the original trilogy ended. Sony attempted to reboot the franchise with Men in Black: International in 2019, but the film wasn’t successful and essentially ended the series.

Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson star in Men in Black: International, protecting Earth from dangerous aliens. The film was originally intended to launch a new direction for the Men in Black series with Hemsworth and Thompson as the leads. Although a follow-up film wasn’t formally confirmed, Sony clearly hoped International would be the start of a new chapter.

Men in Black: International wasn’t successful, unfortunately. Critics didn’t like it, fans were disappointed by the absence of Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones, and it didn’t perform well at the box office. As a result, a sequel was immediately ruled out, and it seemed like the Men in Black series might be over—but that recently changed.

I’ve been a huge fan of Men in Black for ages, and it’s been quiet for a while now, which has been tough! But I just heard some exciting news – it sounds like they might be making another movie! Deadline Hollywood reported something in December 2025, and while they aren’t sharing many details yet, the director worked with Will Smith on Bad Boys before, so I’m really hoping we’ll see some of the original cast back for this one. Fingers crossed!

A fifth Men in Black movie could potentially bring together the actors from all four films – Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones, Chris Hemsworth, and Tessa Thompson – for a big team-up. However, because the fourth movie wasn’t well-received, this seems unlikely to happen.
