‘Mayor of Kingstown’ Season 5 Casts Emmy-Winner Nestor Carbonell

Taylor Sheridan, the creator of popular shows like Yellowstone, Tulsa King, and Lioness, also brought us Mayor of Kingstown. This intense crime drama, streaming on Paramount+, centers on the McLusky family, who wield significant influence in the Michigan town of Kingstown – a place largely defined by its many prisons. Despite a setback when star Jeremy Renner was injured in 2023, the show is currently filming its fifth and final season, following the cliffhanger ending of Season 4 in 2025.

Okay, so the good news is we’re definitely getting a Season 5! Renner is returning, and thankfully, so are the rest of the core cast – Dillon, Bamtefa, Handley, Webster, you name it. It’s a slightly shorter season this time around – eight episodes instead of the usual ten – picking up after that shocking murder in Season 4. And here’s the interesting bit: they’re adding a new face to the team, someone who’s actually been in the superhero world before, just like Renner himself. It’s a smart move, and I’m already intrigued to see how this new dynamic plays out.

He’ll be playing Enrique Molina, a pretty intimidating character who comes to town looking for answers about a missing family member. You might recognize Carbonell – he was fantastic as Mayor Garcia in The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises. Seriously, that guy always brings a great presence to any project. He even won an Emmy for his work on Shogun! He’s been super busy with roles in things like Lost, Bates Motel, and The Morning Show, and he just finished up Ready or Not 2 with Samara Weaving and Kathryn Newton. I’m really excited to see what he brings to Mayor of Kingstown!

Adding Carbonell to the cast of Mayor of Kingston will significantly elevate the show, thanks to his talent for portraying complex characters who often lean towards villainy. It’s unclear if his character will follow that path in this series, but according to creator Enrique Molina, it’s definitely a possibility.

Details about the upcoming season are still mostly secret, especially since filming only began in March 2026. Following Kyle’s revenge against Merle Callahan for killing his wife, Tracy, the FBI will head to Kingstown to find Callahan. Meanwhile, Agent Hardy is poised to expose Mike McLusky’s hidden past, potentially disrupting the fragile power dynamics within the city.

The fifth season of Mayor of Kingstown is being filmed now and should be available to watch in late 2026 or early 2027.
