Mass Effect TV Show Rewrites Ordered To Make It ‘More Appealing to Non-Gamers’ — Report

There’s been a significant update regarding the upcoming Mass Effect TV show, based on the popular BioWare video game series. According to a new report, the head of Amazon MGM Studios’ television division has requested major changes to the show to make it more accessible to viewers who are unfamiliar with the games.

Sources say the Mass Effect TV series is being creatively reworked with Peter Friedlander, the head of television at Amazon MGM Studios, now leading the project.

According to The Ankler, a TV series based on the popular sci-fi video game is likely to be greenlit soon. However, showrunner Friedlander has asked for revisions to make the show more accessible and enjoyable for viewers who don’t play the games, as reported by IGN.

Back in 2021, Deadline was the first to report that Amazon Studios was nearing an agreement to create a new series. Three years later, Variety confirmed the series was in development, adding that Daniel Casey would write and executive produce it, alongside Karim Zriek of Cedar Tree Productions, and Ari Arad and Michael Gamble of EA.
