Marvel Studios Officially Unveils 3rd Member of Daredevil’s Resistance Team

Matt Murdock, the hero known as Daredevil, isn’t a solitary fighter. This has always been a core idea in the Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again, which focuses on a blind lawyer who secretly protects the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood. The first season ended on a dark note: Wilson Fisk, also known as the Kingpin, won the election for mayor and took control of the police, creating a special team to capture masked heroes. By the finale, Daredevil and other vigilantes were in serious danger, Fisk was firmly in power, and Matt realized he needed help – an entire team – to fight back.

The second season of Born Again starts streaming on Disney+ on March 24th, continuing directly from the events of the first season. The new trailer and teaser reveal that Matt Murdock is building a team to take down Wilson Fisk’s control over New York City. We’ve already seen some of his recruits in action, including White Tiger, and there are hints that even more allies will join his fight.

Confirmed Members of Daredevil’s Resistance

 Karen Page

Karen Page has been a long-time friend and helper to Matt Murdock, and is now officially part of his team fighting back. Actress Deborah Ann Woll returns to play Karen, continuing from the Netflix series Daredevil. The trailer for Season 2 shows her and Matt working together on a secret mission.

The video shows Karen directly involved in the action, suggesting she’ll be a key player this season. It also looks like she and Matt will team up again, continuing the partnership they had in the original Netflix show.

Karen joining the resistance feels like a natural next step for her character. She’s consistently shown a willingness to risk her safety to reveal the truth, and fighting against Wilson Fisk’s control of New York City is precisely the type of battle she’d take on.

Jessica Jones

The biggest news for Season 2 of Born Again is Krysten Ritter returning as Jessica Jones. After last appearing in the 2019 finale of her Netflix show, this is Jessica Jones’ official introduction to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a Marvel Studios character.

The trailer for Season 2 clearly showed her coming back, and later promotional images revealed she’s teamed up with Matt Murdock, using the Punisher’s old hideout as their base of operations. We also see her powerfully defeating several agents from the Advanced Tech Force using her super strength.

Jones is incredibly strong and tough, with a straightforward, no-frills personality that works well alongside Matt’s fighting skills. She typically prefers to work alone, so her joining the team is surprising – whatever Fisk did to convince her, it must be a big deal.

White Tiger

Angela del Toro’s storyline in the first season of Born Again was subtle but deeply moving. After her uncle, Hector Ayala (who previously played the White Tiger in the Marvel Cinematic Universe – the role was portrayed by the late Kamar de los Reyes), was tragically killed, Angela expressed a wish to continue his work. The upcoming season will see her do just that.

The recently released teaser for Season 2 officially revealed Angela in her White Tiger costume. The clip briefly shows her standing behind Karen Page, raising a fist while wearing the suit. Like in the Marvel comics, Angela takes on the role of White Tiger after the previous one passes away and then seeks guidance from Matt Murdock – and the show appears to be following this same storyline.

Likely Members of Daredevil’s Resistance

Swordsman

Jack Duquesne, played by Tony Dalton, was first introduced in the Hawkeye series as the wealthy fiancé of Eleanor Bishop. He later appeared in Season 1 of Born Again, revealing that he was secretly a vigilante operating in New York City, which immediately made him an enemy of Wilson Fisk (Kingpin). By the end of the season, Jack was imprisoned in Kingpin’s hidden underground jail, along with other vigilantes the mayor had captured.

The trailer for Season 2 features Matt infiltrating a prison, heavily suggesting Swordsman will be freed. A recent teaser also confirmed Dalton will be back, with a quick glimpse of his character. Dalton shared in an interview that filming Season 2 was incredibly physically challenging, leaving him with significant bruising that kept him in bed for weeks. This indicates he’ll be heavily involved in the action, and his main opponent will almost certainly be Fisk.

Detective Brett Mahoney

Fans really missed Brett Mahoney in the first season of Born Again. Throughout the original Daredevil series on Netflix, he was the key connection between the street-level heroes of Hell’s Kitchen and the police department. Mahoney stood out as an honest cop in a precinct filled with corruption. He was a recurring character in Daredevil for all three seasons, and also appeared in Jessica Jones and The Punisher before those shows concluded.

Actor Royce Johnson has confirmed his return as Mahoney for the second season, and it couldn’t come at a better time. As Wilson Fisk’s task force takes over the NYPD with its own people, someone like Mahoney – a detective who consistently supports justice – is exactly the insider Matt needs to help his fight from within the system.

The Punisher

Jon Bernthal’s character, the Punisher, played a role in the first season of Born Again, appearing in two episodes before being imprisoned by Fisk. A scene after the credits showed him attacking a guard, hinting he’d break out. Many fans expected him to return in the second season and help Matt fight back.

So far, Jon Bernthal isn’t listed as part of the main cast for Season 2. Instead, he’s filming a separate Disney+ special where his character, Frank Castle, battles mob boss Ma Gnucci. This special is expected to release around July, coinciding with the Spider-Man: Brand New Day movie, and will establish Frank Castle’s storyline before that film begins. However, if Frank Castle does unexpectedly return for Season 2 of Born Again, he’ll be fighting alongside Matt Murdock.

Claire Temple

Claire Temple is a key character in the interconnected Netflix series featuring Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist. She acted as a sort of unofficial nurse, patching up these heroes as they fought crime in Hell’s Kitchen. Rosario Dawson last played Claire in Season 2 of Luke Cage back in 2018, and the character hasn’t appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since.

Rumors indicate Claire might reappear in the Spider-Man: Brand New Day series, rather than season two of Born Again. This means she’s likely coming back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but not necessarily in the next season of Born Again. However, since Marvel is bringing back characters from the old Netflix shows, a quick appearance by Claire in Born Again season two is still possible. If she does show up, she’ll probably help Matt Murdock, just like she always has.
