Marvel Studios Announces Moon Knight Star’s 2025 MCU Return

Marvel Studios has confirmed Moon Knight will return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Although a second season of his solo series hasn’t been announced, the character is still very popular with fans who are excited to see his story continue. While it’s unclear what the future holds for a live-action return, Moon Knight will appear in other projects.

F. Murray Abraham is returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) to reprise his role as Khonshu in the upcoming animated series, Marvel Zombies. Marvel Studios announced that this will be his second appearance in the MCU, following his debut as the Egyptian god in the 2022 series Moon Knight.

In Marvel stories, Khonshu is an old Egyptian god connected to the moon and revenge. He works by possessing people, turning them into the hero known as Moon Knight. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Khonshu currently inhabits Marc Spector, played by Oscar Isaac, giving Marc the power to become Moon Knight and battle criminals.

In Moon Knight’s next iteration, Khonshu will inhabit the body of Erik Brooks, also known as Blade, instead of Marc Spector, offering a fresh take on the character’s history. This version of Blade was briefly shown at the end of Season 3 of *What If…?*, and now it’s confirmed he’ll be connected to Khonshu.

Marvel Studios is launching *Marvel Zombies*, its first animated series geared towards mature audiences with an R-rating. The show is a continuation of a storyline from the *What If…?* episode ‘What If… Zombies?’, and will feature popular actors like Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, and Iman Vellani as Ms. Marvel battling a zombie outbreak. All four episodes will be available to stream on Disney+ starting Wednesday, September 24th.

What To Expect From Moon Knight in Marvel Zombies

In the upcoming *Marvel Zombies* series, a surprising twist will see Khonshu, the moon god, choosing Blade as his host instead of Moon Knight. This will grant Blade new powers and a completely different appearance. Todd Williams will be voicing Blade, joining the cast to portray this unique version of the vampire hunter connected to Khonshu.

So far, Blade hasn’t been featured much in promotional material for *Marvel Zombies*, but the clips we’ve seen show him performing impressive action against the zombies. The addition of Khonshu promises even more thrilling moments as his animated form plays a key role.

A brief moment in the trailers shows Khonshu’s reflection on Blade’s sword, suggesting the Egyptian god will play a significant role in his fights.

While fans are eagerly anticipating the live-action Blade movie starring Mahershala Ali, the series *Marvel Zombies* will offer a preview of the tone and style to expect within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
