Patrick Stewart, who plays Professor Charles Xavier, might be finishing with the role after the movie Avengers: Doomsday. The X-Men will be very important in Doomsday, marking the first time they’ll share top billing in a live-action film with the Avengers. Given how long some of these actors have played their characters, this film could be a natural ending point for their time with these roles.
A recent rumor suggests Patrick Stewart will play Professor Charles Xavier for the last time in the upcoming film, Avengers: Doomsday. Kristian Harloff, on his show The Kristian Harloff Show, hinted that Stewart may be retiring from acting after reprising the role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, potentially marking his final performance as the beloved X-Men leader.
I heard some exciting news! Patrick Stewart will be appearing as Professor X, and from what I understand, this will be his last acting role. It sounds like he’s retiring after this project.
Patrick Stewart, now 85, originally portrayed Professor X in the 2000 film X-Men and went on to play the character in six out of the eleven X-Men movies made by 20th Century Fox. Though his character, Charles Xavier, seemingly died in 2017’s Logan, Stewart reprised the role for his first appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2022’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, where he was shown as the leader of the Illuminati. He’s now officially set to appear in another Marvel Studios project.
Stewart is among the 27 actors confirmed to be in Avengers: Doomsday, the next big Marvel movie. It’s the fifth Avengers film and the fourth film in Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The movie will feature the Avengers, Fantastic Four, X-Men, and others as they battle Victor von Doom, who poses a threat to the entire Multiverse, potentially ruling or destroying it. Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to hit theaters on December 18, 2026.
Will Patrick Stewart Be in Avengers: Secret Wars?

While Patrick Stewart’s return to the MCU is thrilling, and seeing new X-Men actors join is fantastic, Doomsday is only a small part of what Marvel has planned. The Multiverse Saga will truly reach its peak with Avengers: Secret Wars, which is predicted to be the largest and most ambitious superhero film ever made.
So far, we know Doctor Doom will be the big bad in Secret Wars, and a few actors have been confirmed to appear. A new report indicates that Patrick Stewart might be finishing his run as Professor X in the Marvel Cinematic Universe before Secret Wars comes out.
If Doomsday turns out to be Professor X’s last appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, his character might be killed during an attack by Doctor Doom. This would definitely give the other heroes a strong motivation – and a reason to seek revenge – leading into the next two *Avengersstyle team-up movies.
