Marve-Inspired Horror Movie Man-Thing Streaming on Tubi

I’m so excited – a really cool, but totally under-the-radar horror movie based on Marvel characters is finally available to stream! It’s been hard to find for ages, so it’s awesome it’s making a comeback, even if it’s a bit unexpected.

After being largely forgotten for over 20 years, the 2005 film Man-Thing is now available to stream! Even better, you can watch Man-Thing for free on Tubi – no subscription needed.

The movie Man-Thing, released after the comic book character’s 1971 debut in Savage Tales #1, presented a unique take on the Marvel story. It was written by Hans Rodionoff and a collaboration between Marvel Enterprises, Fierce Entertainment, Screenland, and Movieworld.

The series Man-Thing follows Sheriff Kyle Williams, played by Matthew Le Nevez, as he investigates a troubling case of numerous missing people in a seemingly peaceful part of New Orleans. The cast also includes Rachael Taylor, Jack Thompson, Alex O’Laughlin, Robert Mammone, Steve Bastoni, Rawiri Paratene, and Conan Stevens, who portrays Ted Sallis, the Man-Thing himself.

When Man-Thing was released in 2005, it received mostly negative reviews, though some critics praised its special effects. Currently, Rotten Tomatoes gives the film a 14% approval rating from both critics and audiences, based on seven professional reviews and over 5,000 user ratings.

Does Man-Thing Have a Future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe?

Even though a Man-Thing movie failed years ago, the character has a chance to succeed on screen now. In 2022, Man-Thing appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the first time in Michael Giacchino’s Werewolf by Night, a special presentation directed by the Academy Award-winning composer. The black-and-white special received very positive reviews, earning a “Certified Fresh” rating of 90% on Rotten Tomatoes based on 113 critic reviews.

Giacchino is directing a new version of the 1954 film Them!, but he’s also expressed interest in revisiting the Werewolf by Night universe soon. Given how the Werewolf by Night special ended, this could be a great opportunity for fans to see Man-Thing return.

I’d really love to make another Werewolf by Night special. I have ideas for continuing the story we started, but it’s tricky because the TV version is developing separately. It’s hard to connect that storyline to what Jack Russell is currently experiencing in the Marvel comics, so we’re figuring out how to make it all work.
