Early in the Multiverse Saga, Marvel considered introducing a different version of Loki – one taken from right after his loss in the first Avengers movie – to give the character a fresh start. However, after Loki Season 2 on Disney+, the character evolved into something more: the God of Stories. He’ll continue this new role in next year’s Avengers: Doomsday, essentially keeping the different realities of the Multiverse from falling apart.
In the latest Q&A from The Cosmic Circus, insider Alex Perez shared that the Beyonders, who were initially expected to play a significant role based on the setup for Secret Wars, won’t actually appear in Avengers: Doomsday. Instead, Tom Hiddleston’s Loki will be stepping in to fulfill that role.
The Beyonders played a crucial role in the 2015 ‘Time Runs Out’ storyline, which led into the ‘Secret Wars’ event, much like Doomsday appears to be doing for the Marvel Cinematic Universe adaptation. These beings are almost all-powerful and exist outside of the entire Multiverse. Doctor Doom actually stole their power to build his unique, combined world called Battleworld.

Rumors suggest the upcoming Doomsday event will center around a competition to reach Loki, with Doctor Doom likely trying to claim Loki’s power and use it to rebuild Battleworld. This seems to be his solution to the Incursions, similar to how he once exploited the Beyonders.
The Beyonders’ plan in Secret Wars went beyond simply destroying worlds. They aimed to dismantle the entire Multiverse by engineering a Molecule Man in each universe. The death of each of these Molecule Men would cause its corresponding universe to collapse, triggering a chain reaction of destruction known as the Incursions.
With Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe becoming more of a hero, the version of Loki focused on storytelling might not follow suit. Adding too much complexity to the already intricate Multiverse storyline could confuse viewers and make it hard to follow.
The full story behind Avengers: Doomsday will be revealed on December 18, 2026, and a first look at the movie might be coming soon – reports suggest the first trailer is almost here.
Avengers: Doomsday’s Storyline May Be Becoming Clear After Recent Rumors

It’s starting to become a pattern – we’re hearing reports that Marvel is making changes to important characters from the Secret Wars storyline as they adapt it for the MCU. Just like The Cosmic Circus reported, it looks like we won’t be seeing Molecule Man in the next Avengers movies either. It’s a little disappointing, but I’m still excited to see how it all plays out.
Molecule Man played a crucial role leading up to the Secret Wars event. His incredible power was key to Doctor Doom’s victory over the extremely powerful Beyonders, allowing Doom to steal their abilities and ultimately build Battleworld.
As a huge Marvel fan, I’ve been thinking about what it’s going to take for Doctor Doom to actually build Battleworld in Avengers 5 – it’s pretty much expected, right? It’s got me wondering if someone else will end up taking the role of Molecule Man, kind of like how Loki and the Beyonders were used before. And honestly? It makes me think Loki might be in serious trouble. It wouldn’t surprise me if he doesn’t make it out of this one alive.
Doctor Doom is entering the upcoming Doomsday event with a significant advantage: the incredibly powerful Franklin Richards, known from The Fantastic Four: First Steps. However, Doom might also enlist other strong heroes to help him, potentially including Lewis Pullman’s Sentry and Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch.
Rumors suggest Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom will be tracking down those responsible for Multiversal Incursions, potentially including Chris Evans’ Captain America. It’s possible Doom will initially focus on eliminating these perceived dangers to the Multiverse before ultimately setting his sights on Loki.
