Lee Cronin’s The Mummy is gearing up to be the scariest movie of 2026.
The new movie, directed and written by Cronin, is a scary thriller produced by horror experts James Wan and Jason Blum. It’s sure to give viewers a fright! The story centers around a journalist whose daughter vanishes, and eight years later, unexpectedly returns – bringing with her a terrifying turn of events. (Brendan Fraser, known for The Mummy, is not involved in this new film.)
Initial reactions to the new horror movie are coming in after a few people got to see it before its April 17th release. The first reviews suggest it could be one of the scariest films of the year, and excitement is building.
Okay, so I just finished watching Lee Cronin’s The Mummy, and wow, I immediately had to share my thoughts! It’s seriously gruesome and gnarly – get ready for a really scary movie experience. I couldn’t stop thinking about it, so I posted about it twice right after!
Bill Bria was clearly scared by the movie The Mummy and believes that the film’s creator, Cronin, drew ideas from movies like Bring Her Back, The Omen, The Vanishing, and Braindead.
I was shocked to hear Brandon Davis’s review! He didn’t pull any punches, saying it was, and I quote, “the most messed up movie I’ve ever seen in a theater.” It’s a strong statement, but that’s how he felt!
I was really struck by Chris Killian’s description of Cronin’s film – he called it the most terrifying and disgusting Mummy movie imaginable! And as someone who loves Evil Dead Rise, he really thinks fans of that film will absolutely get a kick out of this one, too.
According to Who Let Us Out, the new movie from Cronin isn’t your typical mummy film. Be prepared for something truly scary and disturbing!
As a big horror fan, I really appreciate how Matt Bedrosian doesn’t just talk about the scares in this movie. He points out it’s also a surprisingly touching story about family, and he even highlights this awesome line about the creatures being ‘demons older than the devil’ – which just gives you a sense of how truly ancient and terrifying the evil is in The Mummy.
I’ve been hearing mixed things about the new horror flick. Edgar Ortega, for one, really didn’t like it – he said it dragged on way too long and wasn’t a fan of The Mummy at all. It sounds like it didn’t quite hit the mark for him.
Lee Cronin’s The Mummy is set to release in theaters on April 17.
