According to FlixPatrol, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is now the third most popular series on Apple TV+ worldwide. It’s currently behind only Your Friends & Neighbors and Margot’s Got Money Troubles, but it’s quickly gaining ground and may soon reach the top. In the United States, the show is ranked seventh.

Why Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Is Such a Massive Hit

The series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters first aired in 2023 and provided a more detailed exploration of the Monarch organization than any of the previous MonsterVerse movies. The show follows the story across several decades, featuring Wyatt Russell as a younger Lee Shaw and his father, Kurt Russell, as the older version of the same character, who founded Monarch.

I’m really intrigued by Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. The story kicks off with Cate and Kentaro Randa – played by Anna Sawai and Ren Watabe – trying to find out what happened to their dad. As they search, they start uncovering his ties to the mysterious Monarch organization, and it’s a fascinating setup.

Critics and viewers generally liked Monarch: Legacy of Monsters when it came out. Season 1 currently has an 86% ‘Certified Fresh’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes, meaning most reviews are positive.

Season 2 of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters premiered on February 27th, continuing the stories of both the present-day and 1950s characters. I’m so relieved to know the MonsterVerse isn’t going anywhere! There’s more action coming, and they’ve already started working on the next movie. It’ll continue the story right after Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, which is fantastic, though it’ll be with a fresh team behind the camera this time around.

Grant Sputore is directing the new Godzilla x Kong: Supernova film. This is a change from previous installments, which were directed by Adam Wingard, as he couldn’t commit due to scheduling issues. The screenplay is written by David Callaham, known for his work on action films like The Expendables, Mortal Kombat, and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

The new film will feature returning star Dan Stevens as Trapper, alongside newcomers Jack O’Connell, Alycia Debnam-Carey, Matthew Modine, and Sam Neill, as well as Josh Thomson, Sami Afuni, and Bronte Pearce.
