Sydney Sweeney will be joined by a new actor in The Housemaid’s Secret, the follow-up to her popular 2025 film, The Housemaid. This announcement comes after news surfaced in January that a sequel was in the works.

Kirsten Dunst, known for her roles in films like Spider-Man and The Power of the Dog, will co-star alongside Sydney Sweeney in the upcoming thriller The Housemaid’s Secret. This is the second major film role announced for Dunst in the past week; she’s also set to play a character from the original video game in the Minecraft Movie sequel. Dunst most recently appeared in the crime comedy Roofman with Channing Tatum.

Lionsgate’s Erin Westerman announced they’re excited to have Kirsten Dunst join the cast for the next installment of The Housemaid. Westerman praised Dunst as a talented and fearless actress, and believes she’ll create amazing on-screen chemistry with Sydney Sweeney in a story full of surprises.

Michele Morrone will reprise his role as Enzo in the upcoming sequel to The Housemaid’s Secret. Paul Feig, the director of the first film, is returning to direct, with Rebecca Sonnenshine again writing the screenplay. Feig will produce the film with Laura Fischer, Todd Lieberman from Hidden Pictures, and Sweeney of Fifty-Fifty Films. Kaylee McGregor from Fifty-Fifty Films will co-produce, and Carly Elter and Alex Young from Hidden Pictures will serve as executive producers.

Based on Freida McFadden’s novel, the movie The Housemaid is a thriller about Millie, a woman with a difficult past who takes a live-in job cleaning for a rich couple. Things get unsettling when she’s made to sleep in a small, locked attic room, and strange events begin to reveal the family’s hidden secrets. The film stars Sydney Sweeney as Millie, along with Amanda Seyfried, Brandon Sklenar, and Andrea Morrone as the groundskeeper, Enzo.

Inspired by the second book in Freida McFadden’s series, The Housemaid’s Secret follows Millie as she begins working for a new, affluent couple. When Millie is prevented from seeing her employer, Mrs. Garrick, she becomes increasingly suspicious and wonders what secrets the husband is hiding. This sequel is full of mysteries for Millie to unravel.
