Kevin Feige’s Marvel Future Addresses After Kathleen Kennedy and Bob Iger Exits

Despite significant changes happening at Disney in 2026, Kevin Feige appears secure in his position at Marvel Studios. Recent announcements included Kathleen Kennedy leaving her role as President of Lucasfilm, with Dave Filoni and Lynwen Brennan taking over. Additionally, Josh D’Amaro will replace Bob Iger as Disney’s CEO on March 18, 2026, and Dana Walden will become President and Chief Creative Officer.

Even with recent shifts at Marvel, Kevin Feige is expected to remain in his leadership role. Sources at Deadline say he’s not planning to step down as President of Marvel Studios or Chief Creative Officer of Marvel Entertainment. He’s currently focused on upcoming projects like Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, and is also working on plans to reboot the X-Men franchise, potentially keeping him busy through 2028. So far, neither Disney nor Feige has confirmed these reports.

Kevin Feige Isn’t Done with the Marvel Cinematic Universe Just Yet

Disney has undergone significant leadership changes recently, but Marvel remains the one division without a major executive shake-up. Kevin Feige is now the only top executive at a major Disney-owned company who has stayed in their role throughout both of Bob Iger’s times as CEO. Other leaders haven’t been so consistent: John Lasseter left his position at Pixar and Walt Disney Animation in 2018 due to misconduct allegations, with Pete Docter and Jennifer Lee taking over. Lee then stepped down in 2024, and Jared Bush, the director of Zootopia 2, replaced her. Kathleen Kennedy, who led Lucasfilm for 14 years, was originally appointed by George Lucas before Disney acquired the company.

Kevin Feige has had an incredibly successful career. He started as an assistant to producer Lauren Schuler Donner and quickly made a strong impression on Avi Arad while working on X-Men. Arad then brought Feige on board as a key leader at Marvel Studios. In 2007, Feige became President of Production, and after the huge opening weekend of Iron Man in 2008, he was promoted to president. He then played a vital role in building one of the most popular and profitable entertainment franchises ever. In 2019, following massive global success with films like Captain Marvel, Avengers: Endgame, and Spider-Man: Far From Home, Feige’s responsibilities expanded. He was named chief creative officer overseeing Marvel Entertainment, Marvel Comics, Marvel Television, and Marvel Animation, in addition to continuing as President of Marvel Studios.

Kevin Feige has spent almost three decades at Marvel, becoming a hugely influential producer and creative leader in Hollywood. As the Marvel Cinematic Universe approaches its 20th anniversary in 2028 – beginning with Iron Man – and coinciding with his own anniversary as President of Marvel Studios, Feige is likely planning something significant. While Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars won’t be the definitive ending like Infinity War and Endgame, they’ll instead kick off a new era. For Feige, everything will come together with the X-Men reboot – the project that launched his Marvel career and ultimately led to the creation of the MCU.
