The holidays can be wonderful, especially if you have a large family that’s avoided divorce. Kevin Costner, who finalized his divorce from Christine Baumgartner recently, has shared how different – and more complicated – it is to bring everyone together for holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas now.
Kevin Costner is a father to seven children from three different relationships. He shares three older children – Annie (41), Lily (39), and Joe (37) – with his first wife, Cindy Silva. He also has a 29-year-old son with Bridget Rooney, and three younger children – Cayden (18), Hayes (16), and Grace (15) – with his most recent ex-wife. With such a wide range of ages, Costner definitely has a full house, as he recently told Us Weekly.
When the kids were younger, our family routines were more predictable. Now, it’s more about coordinating everyone’s busy lives – getting them home from college or just managing schedules. I try my best to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere whenever we do get together.
Many parents of teens and young adults will likely understand what Kevin Costner is going through. With only two children still under 18, he’s experiencing a major life change, as he recently explained.
Being single, I sometimes feel like I need to put in extra effort to create fun and memorable experiences, since I don’t have a partner to share those little moments with.
Christine Baumgartner filed for divorce from Kevin Costner in May 2023 after 18 years of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences. The divorce was settled less than a year and a half later, though not without some public disagreements. Reports indicated Baumgartner initially resisted leaving their shared home until she was satisfied with the financial terms of the settlement.
During their divorce negotiations, details about Kevin Costner’s spending became public, reportedly causing him embarrassment. The information revealed he spent over $500,000 on gardening and $21,000 on spa treatments. He also allegedly asked his soon-to-be ex-wife to cover $100,000 of his legal costs, but she refused.
Kevin Costner and his ex-wife Christine Baumgartner reached an agreement where he will pay her $63,000 per month in child support for their three children, and they will share joint custody. Since the divorce, Baumgartner has remarried, tying the knot with financier Josh Connor in October. Meanwhile, rumors suggest Kevin Costner is currently dating director and author Kelly Noonan Gores.
Even though Kevin Costner remains a major movie star, he’s shared that the holidays can still be challenging, especially as his children grow up.
