Keanu Reeves Teams With Deadpool Director for New Sci-Fi Movie

Warner Bros. is close to finalizing a deal for a new science fiction film called Shiver, starring Keanu Reeves. Reeves is well-known for his work in the sci-fi genre, most famously as Neo in The Matrix films. He’s also appeared in other sci-fi movies including Johnny Mnemonic (1995), Chain Reaction (1996), The Day the Earth Stood Still (2008), and Replicas (2018).

Who is involved in Keanu Reeves’ newest sci-fi movie?

The Hollywood Reporter says Tim Miller, the director of Deadpool, will helm Shiver, working from a script by Ian Shorr. Matthew Vaughn, known for the Kingsman films, will produce alongside Aaron Ryder.

Okay, so details are still under wraps, but from what I’ve heard, this movie is about a pretty rough-around-the-edges smuggler who gets caught in a really bad situation down in the Caribbean. Think bodies, mercenaries, sharks – the works! Apparently, things get even crazier when he’s stuck in a time loop and has to figure out how to escape it. It’s being pitched as a blend of the action of Edge of Tomorrow with the tense survival vibe of The Shallows, which honestly, sounds awesome.

Keanu Reeves recently finished filming Ballerina, a spin-off of the John Wick series, and Good Fortune, a comedy directed by Aziz Ansari. Coming up next, he’ll appear in Jonah Hill’s dark comedy, Outcome, alongside Cameron Diaz and Matt Bomer, and he’s also set to star with Kirsten Dunst in the satirical comedy, The Entertainment System is Down.
