Keanu Reeves’ 5th John Wick Movie Continues Streaming Domination

The latest installment in the John Wick universe, Ballerina, starring Keanu Reeves, is currently the most-watched title on HBO Max. While the action movie received good reviews and hit theaters almost a year ago, it didn’t earn as much money as previous films in the series.

Ballerina continues to be a streaming success on HBO Max

As of April 1, 2026, Ballerina is the most popular movie on HBO Max in the U.S., with John Wick: Chapter 4, starring Keanu Reeves, coming in second (according to FlixPatrol).

These two movies are even more highly rated than Denis Villeneuve’s Dune films, as well as other popular titles like The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Spider-Man, The Amazing Spider-Man, Fackham Hall, Spider-Man 2, and Evan Almighty, which round out the top ten.

Ballerina, which came out in theaters on June 6, 2025, is a spin-off story connected to the John Wick universe, even though it’s the fifth film in the series. The movie centers on Eve Macarro and her journey to avenge her father’s death at the hands of a dangerous cult.

Len Wiseman, known for directing films like the Underworld series and Live Free or Die Hard, directed the movie. Shay Hatten wrote the screenplay, and Chad Stahelski – the director of all four previous John Wick movies – along with Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee, produced it.

Ana de Armas plays the main character, Eve, alongside a talented cast including Keanu Reeves, Ian McShane, Anjelica Huston, Gabriel Byrne, Catalina Sandino Moreno, and Norman Reedus.

The movie Ballerina earned about $137 million worldwide, making it the second-lowest-performing film in the John Wick series. Here’s a look at how much previous movies in the franchise made at the box office:

  • John Wick (2014): $86 million
  • John Wick 2 (2017): $174 million
  • John Wick 3: Parabellum (2019): $328 million
  • John Wick: Chapter 4 (2023): $440 million

Critics on Rotten Tomatoes gave Ballerina a 75% rating, certifying it as ‘fresh,’ while audiences loved it even more, giving it a ‘hot’ score of 92%. Metacritic shows a more mixed response, with a critic score of 59 and a user score of 6.5, which indicates ‘generally favorable’ opinions.
