Jensen Ackles has become incredibly popular thanks to his leading role in Supernatural. Now, his newest show is quickly gaining a large audience after its third season launched on streaming platforms.
According to FlixPatrol, the series Tracker has remained in fifth place on Paramount+’s streaming charts since October 26th. Based on Jeffery Deaver’s 2019 novel, The Never Game, and created by Ben H. Winters, the show features Justin Hartley as Colter Shaw. Jensen Ackles appears as Shaw’s separated older brother, Russell.
The show Tracker centers around Colter, a skilled survivalist who makes a living by finding missing persons – often working with both ordinary citizens and the police – and collecting rewards. Haunted by his past, he travels across the country, solving mysteries and grappling with difficult family relationships. The show’s creator has mentioned that Season 3 will…
In the Season 2 finale, Colter uncovers a painful truth about his family’s past: his father’s death wasn’t an accident. As Colter learns what happened, the audience discovers just how strained the relationships were before their father died – Otto Waldron pushed him, and Mary asked Otto to do it, according to Winters.
Winters explained that Russell, being older, remembers the events differently – and with more pain – than Colter. This difference in memory is a major source of the brothers’ anger and resentment. Season 3 will delve into each brother’s unique perspective on the night their father died, and viewers will finally learn what happened from Russell’s point of view.
A Tracker Spinoff Might Be in The Works
According to Elwood Reid, an executive producer for Tracker, a spin-off series could be happening. He playfully admitted to including hints in Season 3, Episode 1, “The Process,” hoping fans would pick up on them. Reid also mentioned that the upcoming two episodes contain several teasers, and that the chemistry between [Jensen and Justin Hartley] is enjoyable and unique.
He pointed out that Jensen and Justin have very different acting styles, which makes them captivating to watch together and creates a unique dynamic. He personally prefers working with Jensen whenever possible. However, the project is still on hold because Jensen has other work obligations.
Season 3 promises to continue the dramatic storylines established in the first two episodes. However, some characters who appeared in those episodes won’t be returning, as they’ve been written out of the show. Despite Velma’s departure with Teddi, showrunner Reid suggests that these characters could reappear later in the series.
New episodes of Tracker Season 3 air Sundays on CBS.
