Jumanji 4 Casting Update Confirms Whether Nick Jonas & Danny DeVito Are Returning

Okay, so the buzz is real – Jumanji 4 is officially happening! Dwayne Johnson just dropped the news that the cast had their first table read, which means filming is about to kick off. And the big question everyone’s been asking? Nick Jonas and Danny DeVito are returning! It’s been almost six years since Jumanji: The Next Level hit theaters back in 2019, and honestly, I’d almost given up hope. But it looks like we’re finally getting another adventure, and I, for one, am excited to see what they come up with.

Production on Jumanji 4 is slated to begin shortly, and The Hollywood Reporter has announced that Nick Jonas and Danny DeVito will be back as Jefferson “Seaplane” McDonough and Edward “Eddie” Gilpin, respectively. Bebe Neuwirth, Lamorne Morris, Marin Hinkle, and Rhys Darby are also returning for the sequel. New to the cast are Dan Hildebrand and Jack Jewkes.

With Jonas returning, he’ll be in all three of the new movies, continuing his role as the pilot known as “Seaplane” from the video game. Darby’s return suggests that his character, Nigel Billingsley, will again guide the players. In the real world storyline, DeVito played Spencer’s grandfather, Eddie, who appeared in the game as Johnson’s in-game character, and Hinkle played Spencer’s mother.

Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, and Karen Gillan are all returning for another adventure as their characters in the world of Jumanji. However, this fourth film will be the last time the group appears together, as Johnson has confirmed it will be the final Jumanji movie, stating:

What a fantastic and touching adventure! It feels like the perfect, graceful ending for the Jumanji series with this final film.

Currently, details about the story are being kept secret, and the fourth movie doesn’t have an official title yet. The ending of The Next Level suggested the game’s world might merge with reality, but it’s unknown if the characters from the game will become real people or simply connect with their real-world counterparts. In October, it was confirmed that Alex Wolff, Madison Iseman, Ser’Darius Blaine, and Morgan Turner – who played the live-action characters in previous films – will be back for the next installment.

The next Jumanji movie is coming out on December 11, 2026, continuing a pattern from the last two films, which were also released in December.
