Julia Roberts Was “Surprised” After Reading ‘Ocean’s 14’ Script

Julia Roberts, known for her role in the Ocean’s films, has confirmed she’s read the script for the new sequel, Ocean’s Fourteen, and believes it lives up to fan expectations. A revival of the popular crime series is in the works, bringing back most of the original cast after a 25-year hiatus. George Clooney has already hinted at the sequel, and now Roberts is adding to the excitement, suggesting the new heist film is shaping up nicely.

According to Variety, Julia Roberts attended the Golden Globes last night and presented the award for Best Musical or Comedy Film. George Clooney presented the award for Best Drama Film, and many believe this wasn’t a coincidence. Before the show, Roberts spoke about Ocean’s Fourteen and confirmed she will be part of the upcoming sequel.

I did read the script, and I was curious about the storyline. Thankfully, it’s really good – we wouldn’t move forward with a project if it wasn’t.

‘Ocean’s 14’: Production Update, Returning Cast & the Mini-Reunion That Just Took Place

Warner Bros.

Not much is known about the next Ocean’s movie yet, except that George Clooney has confirmed Warner Bros. has given it the green light. He said a few months ago that they’re now working out the logistics and aiming to start filming in about nine to ten months. It’s mostly a matter of finding a suitable start date.

The biggest hurdle in making a new Ocean’s movie is likely coordinating the schedules of its stars. When Ocean’s Eleven came out, the cast already had some well-known names. However, actors like Brad Pitt and Matt Damon have become huge stars since then, making it harder to get everyone together for a new film.

Okay, so the news is official: George Clooney is dusting off his suit and returning as Danny Ocean! And thankfully, Julia Roberts is coming back as Tess. The whole crew seems to be getting back together too – Brad Pitt as Rusty Ryan, Matt Damon as Linus Caldwell, and Don Cheadle as Basher Tarr are all confirmed. We haven’t heard from everyone yet – folks like Casey Affleck, Scott Caan, and Elliott Gould are staying pretty quiet. But the best news? Andy Garcia, who played the villain Terry Benedict, has hinted he’s definitely interested in returning for another round. Sounds like a full-on Ocean’s reunion is in the works!

While Warner Bros. hasn’t made an official announcement yet, a fourteenth Ocean’s movie is looking increasingly likely. Fans of the series got a little treat recently when George Clooney and Don Cheadle had an unexpected reunion at the Golden Globes. Clooney was presenting an award when Cheadle joined him on stage, and the moment was a definite highlight of the show, suggesting there’s still plenty of life left in the Ocean’s franchise.
