Judy Reyes Reveals If She’s Leaving High Potential for Scrubs

Judy Reyes, the actress known for her roles in both High Potential and Scrubs, has finally addressed rumors about leaving High Potential now that Scrubs is coming back. While many viewers recently know her as Selena Soto in High Potential, she first gained popularity playing Carla Espinosa, the head nurse, in the original Scrubs series.

As a huge fan of both shows, I was so relieved to hear that Elena Reyes will be able to juggle filming High Potential and Scrubs! Apparently, the people behind the scenes are really working to make it happen. She actually told TV Line back in October 2025 that because both shows are on ABC, they’ve been extra careful to schedule things so she can appear in both. It’s great to know they’re prioritizing her involvement!

I’m really thankful that both shows are on ABC. They worked hard to make sure my schedule allowed me to be on both of them.

Now that the popular comedy Scrubs is coming back, some viewers were concerned that actress Joely Reyes, age 58, wouldn’t be able to manage both shows. This led to speculation she might have to leave High Potential before it could return for a third season. However, Reyes has stated that she will be able to continue with both projects.

None of this discussion matters if “High Potential” isn’t renewed for a third season, and currently, ABC hasn’t decided yet. Also, the planned “Scrubs” revival will only have one season. So, everything we’ve talked about is just speculation, but it could happen if both shows are picked up for additional episodes.

Regarding the possibility of another season of High Potential, Reyes explained to Decider that it all comes down to audience interest: “It depends on whether viewers want a Season 3.”

Going back to the topic of ‘High Potential’ for a moment… has there been any news about whether the show will be renewed for a third season? Are we still waiting to find out?

Whether or not we get a Season 3 is really up to the audience. Everyone at ABC, Hulu, and Disney is thrilled with how the show is starting, so it will depend on how viewers respond to it. Hopefully, it’s well-received!

The second season of High Potential is currently airing, and Scrubs is making a comeback after being off the air for over 15 years. The new season begins on Wednesday, February 25th.

Will Judy Reyes’ ABC Double-Feature Come To Pass?

For the next few weeks, viewers might be able to catch Judy Reyes in two shows on ABC at the same time. As the new season of Scrubs begins, the second season of High Potential could still be on the air. (You can find more information about High Potential Season 2 here.)

I was really enjoying High Potential, but it finished its first season in early February, so I’m worried it might not get another season before Scrubs comes back. If it does continue, though, it sounds like it’ll be all about Reyes on Disney – which honestly, I wouldn’t mind at all!

It will be interesting to see if the network continues to give John C. Reyes a prominent role in the show over the next few years. So far, the Scrubs revival has only been confirmed for one season, and there’s no news yet about whether High Potential will get a third season.

Ratings for Season 2 of High Potential have gone up, suggesting the network is likely to approve another season. Plus, if the Scrubs reboot attracts the enthusiastic audience fans have been promising since its announcement, it should also get a second season.
