Josh Duhamel’s new action comedy, London Calling, is becoming popular on streaming services. Directed by Allan Ungar and written by Ungar alongside Omer Levin Menekse and Quinn Wolfe, the film had a small release in theaters in September 2025, distributed by Quiver Distribution. It was also shown in cinemas across the Middle East, South Africa, and other international locations.
I’m really excited about this new project because it brings Josh Duhamel and Eytan Ungar back together! They worked brilliantly on Bandit – you might remember that one, it’s a true story with Mel Gibson and Elisha Cuthbert about a Canadian robber who kept breaking records. This new movie, London Calling, is another crime story, but it sounds like it’s going to be a bit more fun and lighthearted.
The action movie London Calling is now available on multiple streaming services. Currently, it’s the #6 movie on Paramount+ in Canada and #4 on Hulu in the U.S. – it was even in the Top 3 on Hulu yesterday.
In London Calling, actor Duhmael plays Tommy Ward, a not-very-good hitman who finds himself on the run. He unexpectedly ends up in Los Angeles after mistakenly killing a relative of a powerful London crime boss. Desperate to return home to his son, Tommy strikes a deal with a new boss: he must teach the man’s shy teenage son how to become more confident and self-assured.
Josh Duhamel stars in this new action comedy alongside Rick Hoffman (from Suits), Aidan Gillen (Game of Thrones), and Jeremy Ray Taylor (It), who plays his somewhat clumsy son. This isn’t Duhamel’s first time in an action role – he’s recently appeared in Off the Grid and Blackout. While he’s often known for romantic dramas, he’ll soon be back as the lead in season two of Netflix’s Ransom Canyon.
He’s been known for this type of work for a while, starting with his projects like the Las Vegas TV show and the early 2000s romantic comedy Win a Date with Ted Hamilton. While his latest comedy isn’t as strong as those earlier successes – Gregory Nussen’s review for ScreenRant pointed out a few weaknesses – it still fits his established style.
For anyone interested in seeing Josh Duhamel in a new kind of pairing, his chemistry with Dakota Taylor is a definite plus. “London Calling” is a straightforward movie that delivers on its promises, largely thanks to the strong connection between the two lead actors.
