Johnny Knoxville Announces Jackass Movie for 2026

Get ready for more outrageous stunts! Johnny Knoxville and the Jackass crew are planning a comeback in 2026. What started as a daring reality show on MTV became a hugely popular series of movies, with four films already released. After a four-year break, it looks like Jackass is back to deliver even more hilarious moments.

Johnny Knoxville announced on Instagram that a new Jackass movie is coming out this summer! He said they’re kicking off the year with exciting news and fans can expect to see it in theaters on June 26th. He promised more details will be shared soon.

The news was shared with a picture of the Jackass logo—a white skull with two crossed crutches—and the release date, June 26th. Another photo showed Johnny Knoxville excitedly raising his fist, celebrating the return of the famously wild comedy series this summer.

Jackass Is the Most Controversial Comedy of the 21st Century

Prank shows had been done before, but Jackass really changed the game. The show first aired on MTV in 2000 and lasted for three seasons. It starred Johnny Knoxville and his friends, like Bam Margera, Steve-O, Chris Pontius, and Ryan Dunn, and focused on them performing outrageous stunts and pranks.

The series and movies were known for outrageous pranks and stunts. These often involved risky and sometimes disgusting situations, with Johnny Knoxville and the crew willing to get hurt for a laugh. They didn’t hold back and tried everything.

Even though Jackass episodes always included warnings against trying the stunts at home, the show frequently appeared in news stories when people were injured recreating them. Whenever someone hurt themselves or others attempting similar stunts, Jackass was often mentioned as the source of the idea.

MTV stopped airing old episodes of Jackass after Senator Joe Lieberman of Connecticut voiced his disapproval. The show was an obvious target for political criticism, so the creators moved to making movies to continue their work.

Will Bam Margera Return for Jackass 5?

Although Johnny Knoxville hasn’t revealed the cast for Jackass 5, it appears Bam Margera won’t be involved. The star of Viva La Bam and the original Jackass series hinted back in July that he doesn’t think Jackass will continue.

Margera explained that due to how he was treated – including being sent to treatment, which they paid for, and then not being included in a film – he wouldn’t work with them again, even for a large sum of money. He also mentioned legal issues stemming from the situation, stating, ‘The damage has been done.’

Following the release of the fourth film in the series, he was let go, and he then sued, claiming he had been unfairly dismissed. They eventually settled the dispute, but the terms of the agreement remained private.

Jackass 5 releases in theaters on June 26.
