Rumors are strongly suggesting that Jessica Jones will be the next Marvel character to get her own show on Disney+.
Jessica Jones, a show created by Melissa Rosenberg for Netflix and Marvel, aired for three seasons from 2015 to 2019. It starred Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones, a former superhero who becomes a private investigator. She starts her own agency, Alias Investigations, and dedicates herself to stopping the dangerous Kilgrave. When Netflix cancelled the show, many fans feared they’d seen the last of Jessica Jones. Luckily, Marvel is bringing her back in Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again, and it seems like this will be just the beginning of a longer story for her within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
What’s the latest rumor regarding Jessica Jones Season 4?
Okay, so here’s the buzz from New York Comic Con: it sounds like Marvel is finally moving forward with a new Jessica Jones project! A source – MyTimeToShineHello – is reporting they’ve started looking for writers. Brad Winderbaum, the head of Marvel TV, dropped some hints during a podcast appearance that a ‘Born Again’ style story for Jessica could be happening… and potentially sooner than we expect. It’s exciting news for fans who’ve been waiting to see Jessica Jones return!
Ritter later appeared on the Phase Hero podcast, where she elaborated on a hint from Winderbaum, saying there were many ideas she and Winderbaum had discussed that they planned to develop further. She didn’t share any specifics, promising they would be revealed when the time came.
Bringing Jessica Jones into the Marvel Cinematic Universe would mark the third time Marvel Studios has incorporated a key character from the old Netflix ‘Defenders’ shows, following Daredevil and the Punisher. Daredevil’s story is already continuing with a second season completed and a third in the works. The Punisher will appear in a special presentation from Marvel Studios, which is intended to connect his appearances in the second season of Daredevil: Born Again with the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day storyline.
Before a new Jessica Jones series is released, the character will first appear in the second season of Daredevil: Born Again, coming to Disney+ in March 2026. This season will focus on Daredevil building a team to fight against Mayor Kingpin and his task force created to stop vigilantes, and that’s likely how Jessica Jones will become involved in the story.
All the Marvel shows are now available to stream on Disney+.
