Jess Bush Bids Farewell To Star Trek: Strange New Worlds After 5 Seasons

I was so sad to hear that Jess Bush is finishing up her time as Nurse Christine Chapel on Star Trek: Strange New Worlds! It sounds like they’re really nearing the end of filming for the fifth and final season up in Toronto. Apparently, Christina Chong, Celia Rose Gooding, and Martin Quinn have all finished their work on the show, too. It’s the end of an era!

Paramount+ has ordered a final, shorter season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, consisting of just 6 episodes. Season 4, which has 10 episodes, finished filming in summer 2025 and is scheduled to debut on Paramount+ in 2026. The final season, season 5, will then follow in 2027.

Jess Bush celebrated finishing filming on Star Trek: Strange New Worlds by posting a collection of behind-the-scenes photos on Instagram. As a skilled conceptual artist and photographer, Jess captured heartwarming moments with her co-stars and the show’s crew. You can find her post below.

Jess Bush played a younger Christine Chapel in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, a character originally portrayed by Majel Barrett-Roddenberry in the classic Star Trek: The Original Series. Strange New Worlds gave Bush the opportunity to explore Chapel with more detail and emotional range than the original series allowed.

As a big Star Trek: Strange New Worlds fan, I’ve been following Nurse Chapel’s storyline closely. For the first three seasons, she really seemed to have a thing for Spock, but things took a turn and she ended up falling for Dr. Korby instead. Honestly, though, what I really love about Chapel is that she’s not just about the romance. She’s a brilliant doctor, a total genius, and a vital part of the Enterprise crew – the love stories are just one layer of a really complex character.

Jess Bush isn’t just an actress – she’s a creative artist who also designs jewelry and builds unique art installations. She even collaborated with NASA, promoting the importance of responsible space exploration and the value of art in that field. Bush gained widespread popularity as Nurse Chapel on Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, and fans agree she brought a fresh and memorable take to the character.

Even though production on Star Trek: Strange New Worlds might be finishing up, there are still two more seasons and 16 episodes on the way. It’s unclear what will happen with characters like Nurse Chapel as the show progresses and sets the stage for Captain James T. Kirk (Paul Wesley) to eventually command the USS Enterprise.
