Jensen Ackles’ Vought Rising Confirms Release Window 4 Days Ahead of The Boys Season 5 Debut

The popular and funny Prime Video series is ending after its fifth season, which premieres in just four days. However, the story isn’t over! A new prequel series starring Jensen Ackles will continue the franchise.

The new series, called Vought Rising, will focus on the character Soldier Boy, along with Stormfront (played by Aya Cash). According to creator Eric Kripke, the show is expected to premiere in 2027.

Vought Rising Will Come Out in 2027

Krpike couldn’t give a specific date, but said it would be released sometime next year.

Jensen Ackles has seen early cuts of the show up to episode seven and is pleased with how it’s shaping up, and Kripke shares his positive outlook. He believes fans will enjoy the final product.

He explained the release could be a few months into 2027, but the delay was simply due to logistical problems.

Kripke explained that a release this year was never planned. The delay isn’t due to marketing, but because finishing the visual effects will take around eight months. They anticipate completion no earlier than November or December, and then Amazon will need additional time to prepare the show for international release.

Vought Rising Has a Bright Future Ahead

I’m really excited about Vought Rising, but it’s a little nerve-wracking that they’ve only ordered one season so far. Thankfully, Jensen Ackles recently shared some hopeful news! He said the creators definitely envision the show continuing for multiple seasons. Apparently, when they first presented the idea, it was all about a prequel exploring the 1950s and Soldier Boy’s origins, so it sounds like there’s a lot more story to tell!

Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles were excited about the show’s potential, with Ackles immediately expressing his enthusiasm and confirming the creators planned for it to run for multiple seasons.

I’m so excited for the next season! It’s going to dive deeper into Soldier Boy’s past, showing us how Vought – the company that creates all the supes – actually started. We’ll even get to see what Soldier Boy and Stormfront were like when they were younger, which is going to be wild!

Kripke revealed plans for multiple seasons of the show, explaining that Paul Grelong, the co-creator and showrunner, is eager to continue the story. Grelong, who previously worked with Kripke on The Boys and Revolution, has been developing innovative ideas for Season 2 and sharing them with Kripke. They’ve been brainstorming and exploring new directions for the series.

The Boys premieres on Apr. 8 on Prime Video.
